I’m actually surprised, but for once things went in the right direction. A lot of people tell me that there’s no way to get positive results from the political process, and often that makes sense to me, but maybe the situation’s a little better than that; there are people in this country that like freedom and that does have some small effect. It’s kind of remarkable that there’s anything like that at all.

Well looks like the Tea Party didn’t work. Time to sink that ship and build a new one.

Thanks for posting that.
This makes me a bit uneasy. To be honest, I’m expecting something 9/11-ish late 2011, early 2012. It’ll happen “While we had a democrat president and right after the patriot act was taken away! See what happens when we take away the governments ability to PROTECT us?!?”
Just hope I’m wrong. And bookmark this thread in case I have to say I told you so.

List of Tea Party freshmen voting against the Patriot Act:
Reps. Justin Amash (Mich.), Mike Fitzpatrick (Pa.), Chris Gibson (N.Y.), Randy Hultgren (Ill.), Raul Labrador (Idaho), Bobby Schilling (Ill.), Dave Schweikert (Ariz.) and Rob Woodall (Ga.).

Interesting fact:
If there was one 9-11, every three months, for the next 5 years, the average risk for an American to die in a terrorist attack would be 1/5 of one percent.
Right now it is as likely as being struck by lightning.

Awesome. Thanks. I just sent an email to the rep from Texas. Not my rep, but he went o the same college as me. It probably won’t make a difference but it certainly makes me feel better.

The general public is always a few beats behind. There is far, far more to fear from our government than terrorists.
Damnit!!!

“The Obama administration had called for the act to be extended for three years, two years longer than the Republicans are seeking.”
More repub. voted for it this time.

Even from someone who routinely mocks conspiracy nuts, this is a very scary possibility.
So did anyone hear about the new terrorist that suddenly came to the news a day or two after the Patriot Act wan’t extended? Supposedly it is a bigger threat than 9/11. I find this news’ timing rather interesting.

Might be a double post, didn’t see the last go through.
Looks like it has to do with Times Square.

Why would you ever think that any of us trust the Obama government?
Well, that was short lived. Back on the agenda to renew…Damn, so close.
