Good SUV's

Man, y’all have been super helpful. Test drove a wrangler unlimited today and am not a fan. Handled like a cardboard racer. My '96 Grand Cherokee was awesome from a sentimental standpoint but in reality it was a piece of shit so think I’m calling it on Jeeps. Was looking at some Tahoe’s but they’re out of my price range. Found a couple of 4runners from carmax that are exactly what I’m looking for, and am getting them to transfer 'em over so I can get behind the wheel and test’em. Was also looking at a Tundra that was pretty sharp. I’m moving in late January so I’m trying not to make a hasty decision but time is a factor. Again, thanks y’all.

Only fags think 4Runners look pretty cool.

Best bang for your buck will be a pickup. My 2002 GMC 1500 extended cab has 180k on it with zero problems. Very comfortable ride. If you are looking at used, resale is pretty high on these though. New, with 4 full size doors and 4x4 are around 30K

One of my co-workers just retired his Ford Ranger with 389K on it after the transmission finally died.

It really comes down to what will be it’s main purpose though, nothing does everything well.

Takes one to know one

In October, we traded in our 2000 Honda CRV for a 2010 Ford F150 FX4 4x4, fully loaded beauty.

The initial price of filling it up was a shocker ($120 here in BC), but then so was the gas mileage compared to the CRV. It’s exactly the same!

I ran the numbers several times as I thought I had some wrong calculation going on, but our big V8 4x4 gets the exact same gas mileage as our old 4 cyclinder CRV.

I’ve got way more room than the CRV ever had (it’s a supercab so we can toss the kids in the back) and have a lot more options.

Towing was a big issue for us, so I looked at all the mid/large SUV’s… Honda is actually a bit deceptive on their Pilot, for they tell you it can tow a certain weight, but truth of the matter is it actually can’t. It can tow nothing more than a small boat. Most of the SUVs are the same, caping out around 4500-5000lbs.

Our truck tows 9500+… It’s a beast…

I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

Test drove a 2008 TRD Tundra today and loved it. Getting them to transfer over a non TRD with 15k less miles at the same price that I’ll drive tomorrow. This is what I’m leaning towards now.

4Runner all the way. got a 2006 with 45k that’s never had a hiccup and is comfortable for a long drive. handles well and has great brakes. has pushbutton ect to prevent wheel slippage. average @20 mpg hwy/city driving.
I like that I don’t have to jack it up or use ramps to do a 10 min oil change. slide under and drain the oil then open the hood to change the filter that’s on top of the engine.

I just recently picked up a 2003 Anniversary Edition Mitsubishi Montero. Take a look at some of the offroading capability of this vehicle on youtube. I love it!

x2 on the Knight SUV. Parking would be the best, you could do it anywhere. The police will be to afraid to approach your vehicle for ticketing, and its too large for a tow truck.

Get this truck and don’t look back. The 5.7l/six speed combo is awesome. I had an 07 and loved it. I have an '10 2500 Silverado right now that I also love–I needed the 3/4 ton to pull a Fifth Wheel–but for a daily driver the Tundra is a superior vehicle, IMO, and gets very respectable milage for a truck with 400hp. It is also a great tow vehicle for boats and travel trailers.

Make sure its a 4x4 if you are moving to the PacNW, not that you really need it, but the perception is that you need it so its tough to sell a non-4x4 truck/SUV up here. My wife tried to sell an 05 Sequioa in mint condition when I moved up here from Texas, but everyone just turned their nose up at it because it was 2 wheel drive. So we kept it and are going to drive the wheels off it.

Done. At the end of the day I found a deal on a great truck that I couldn’t pass up. I’d like to thank everyone again for their input and for taking the time to contribute. Y’all be good.

Congrats on the truck. I bet you are grinning from ear to ear right now.
