Good First Person Shooter

Serious Sam…straight point and shoot! Simple strategy but the fun is in the numbers.

Painkiller was fun

Counterstrike is the classic that started the 1st person modern craze

F.E.A.R is flatout bad@ss with the bullet time

Of course Max Payne was a blast (bullet time)

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is up to date fun, little more strategy involved than say Serious Sam.

Modern Warfare 2 was pretty fun.
Gears of War 2 is fun, also chainsaw machine guns (suck it Halo).
The older Call of Duty games were pretty fun and simple as I recall.

As far as mindless violence goes, though, check out the new Dead Rising you don’t have to do jack shit but kill zombies with anything on hand. It’s out soon, I believe.

COUNTER STRIKE Half life mod …get it from steam games …people still actively play it online it has an almost cult like following …Warning highly addictive also first FPS to use VOIP
This… I still play counter strike… it never gets old especially when you find new maps people made here or there. Has to be a huge cult… millions of people still play. Also team fortress also out of valve.

But battle field 1942 or battle field 2 are also both epic… you can shoot people… hop in a jet and drop bombs on people or hop in a helicopter, tank, jeep etc… even the new battle field is good with the same concept… they never get boring.

edit: Don’t get MW2… that game is a pile of horse shit… totally sucks. COD4 was awesome… MW2 is the same game but made at a much lower standard… only reason its popular is because of all the sheeple same reason halo 3 was popular when it was 10 fold worse then halo 2 and halo 1. They know they can keep at least a percentage of their following so the put out crappy games.

Fucking this!! ^^^^^

You mentioned further up the thread about some games being too complicated…too involved. That’s one of the things I loved about CS…you just spawn and start shooting. No planning ops…no leadership…just controlled shot groups.

Farcry 2 was an extremely underrated game that went far overlooked.

The basics,

 • You have malaria
 • You wander around a HUGE African wilderness, searching for blood diamonds and killing for two different army factions.
 • It’s an open-ended game if you so choose
 • It’s extremely fucking kick ass.

Borderlands for teh w1n

I can’t believe no one has said Left 4 Dead 1/2. Turn on, light up hundreds of motherfucking zombies. Amazing games. They’re available on steam.
the element of team work makes it so fucking amazing. You have to work together to survive. You should also get a headset so you can talk.

The friends I play real-time strat/MMORPG games with all recommend L4D. As much as would like to join them, I can’t play FPS games myself because they literally give me vertigo.

Fuck you guys mentioned Battlefield and CS. God damnit CS was the shit, I was in a clan and we competed and everything, and we were fucking GOOD. That’s probably how I got fat back in the day. No, that is definitely how I got fat. I almost miss late-night LAN parties and burger king…

Wolfenstein 3D or spear of destiny.

laaaame. i bet it’s because you’re always getting your butt kicked. don’t lie.

OP, anything from Valve is a good start. the Half Lives were mentioned, but try TF2 as well.

the Unreal series is pretty good

Sin was alright kind of like duke nukem 3d but not as funny

Lol, I really am a gamer and competitive as hell. Plane rides, 3D movies and carnival rides have the same vomit-inducing effect as FPS games on me unfortunately. That said I’m pretty sure I could wipe the floor with most people in WC3 or WoW. Or Mario Kart.

also, how about checking out classic shmups?

even some of the ancient ones are great.

If you’re interested, I can recommend you a few… dozen.

I’d say Borderlands overall.

 1. You don’t have to work at getting good at it because it’s pretty much idiot-proof. I just tried SoComm for the PS3 and was like “WTF? I have to practice?”

 2. You get better gear and more skills, so it has replay value.

 3. You can make new guys with different strategies or just pay some money to change your skills if you feel you wasted points in something.

 4. Not much time invested in learning how things work; you pretty much grab it and go.

 5. It doesn’t rely heavily on reflexes/coordination, so no need to develop a meth habit or spend weeks in your mother’s basement practicing to get through the game.

 6. You don’t have to complete missions and advance the story; you can just drop in and kill things/go item hunting if you want.

 7. One of the expansions is all about killing zombies.

 8. The setting and some missions were inspired by the Mad Max movies.

Time to put my private torrent site to work…

why don’t you BUY these games?

If you’re going to steal them (shame on you), why BRAG about it in public?

Painkiller.

No more are needed.
