Eat where locals eat, if you see a menu written in English outside a food establishment, walk away.

If you don’t read and speak the language this could make for some pretty exciting dining.

Pitt,
Just a heads up…
If you plan on buying anything expensive (not sure if you are or not), claim that you brought it with you. When they ask you where you bought that in customs, tell them you bought it in the US, to avoid paying the VAT tax.
Unless, you embrace your Liberal-ness, and want to pay more taxes ![]()
I hope you have fun, and why you didn’t manage a trip to Italy is beyond me. Make sure you have an authentic Belgium waffle, and drink up a shit ton of that awesome coffee over there. Watch your wallet, lots of pick-pockets over there. If someone bumps you on a train, check your pockets ASAP.
Thanks , I 'll do that

As Pat said, try to eat where the locals eat and go to the stores the locals go. All the tourist shit they try to sell you is shit and overly expensive. I now you arent going to Norway, but we sell some moronic stuff
to tourist. I guess it is like that on the continent too.
Regarding gypsys: If you encounter any, treat them like people and not like shit as many of my fellow europeens does. You will make the europeen continent a tad better if you do this, but keep a hand on your wallet when you do ;P
I have already bumped into a few and I will treat them well as always ![]()

Sorry I did not get to PM, I did not take a computer because I was not sure about the voltage difference . I love Amsterdam . We did manage to avoid the majority of tourist traps
I thought I would give my impression of Europe compared to America . I know I had a 2 week breeze through EU.
Marijuana I would say Amsterdam’s White widow was comparable to Cali’s Bubbah Kush . Amsterdam was cheaper though . My Cali pot came from the black market .
Beir EU’s beer is so far superior
EU’s coffee is far superior
Overall EU’s food is superior . I will say the EU has smaller servings .
The cost of all food stuff were slightly higher but quality was superior.
I did not see a lot of cattle and sheep farms , but in Belgium we drove through a large farm area . EU has a Belgium has a SUPERIOR way they treat their live stock. I have witnessed atrocities in America’s treatment of animals intended for food.
My experience we landed in Dusseldorf DE ,Cochem DE,Teir DE love it ) Cologne DE ,Utrecht ,Amsterdam )Paris,
LOndon.
We used subways and trains for Utrecht,Amsterdam, London and Paris .

The way I understand it is Germany is more liberal than America but more prosperous .I do not consider myself to be anything like a socialist .I think with my anti war stance along with my anti war on drugs makes me more conservative than even Zeb ![]()
Smoke that ZEB :)
I often agree with you pit, but an anti-war position is not a typical conservative position regardless of what the revisionist libertarians say. Its a very leftist position, Ron Paul for instance is not a typical rightwing guy in that regard.

Lol. Matters what you consider left and right, but at the end of the day you’re arguing against abstractions…something conservatives have rarely been interested in pushing to any real extent.

Nice to have you back!
You wrote that you were a short time in Cologne, and as I live there I’d like to read your impressions of the city. Disregard the question if you just went through the airport. Thanks.
