I’m not 100% in love with your tone right now.
Looks like someone got up on the wrong side of the rock this morning.[/quote]
Hey! Give us a minute, will ya?!
Yeah I have a response…uhhhhh…what?!
I guess most of you who have no idea what this thread is about haven’t seen the Geico insurance commercials with the cavemen. Most of the quotes are lines from the commercials.

Oh, I’m sorry. I just felt sorry for those that were clueless, so I threw them a bone.

I reserve it for the diet pepsi max commercial. I fucking hate that commercial. Since I watch an ass load of baseball, I am privy to these commercials. Apparently, baseball fans are Geico’s target audience because they are on all the time. Pepsi hasn’t realized that I will never buy that diet pepsi max shit, simply based on the fact that that commercial annoys me to the point of anger.
I don’t think there has ever been a product that has swayed me with a commercial. In the information age I can go on line and read what other customers have to say and that is more important to me.
Though, I think commercials mainly serve as a means for product recognition and are not necessarily meant to be a plea to buy their stuff. Many commercials are just portraying some feel-good or fear based propaganda to trigger an emotional response.
The Gieco commercials have been some of the best I have seen and I even sometime make it a point to turn up the volume on them just to get a laugh – though I get way better rates through American Family Insurance.

When you don’t think they have you, that’s when they have you.

Afraid I am too much of a cynic and a skeptic to ever believe a commercial.

All I am saying is that you are more influenced by them then you think. Everybody thinks they are smart enough not to be swayed by commercials, but sure as shit when commercials hit the TV, sales go up. They don’t count on stupid people alone for sales. All they have to do is plant the seed. For example, if your willing to be honest, when I say “faucet” what is the first company that comes to mind?

Exactly…its about product recognition which I already explained.
I am not denying that aspect. I can drive home and be exposed to a milieu of billboards with product slogans and images. My argument was that I do not rely on commercials to give me facts about product. I am more trusting of other people who have paid money for a product or service over the words of an advertising agency. Obviously advertising works or there would not be a market for it.
To be honest with you I could name at least two branded companies that deal in plumbing hardware though I am not sure which is supposed to the the “best”.
