Geek S**T The SIXTH

I’ve read Grifter, Suicide Squad, Deathstroke, and Demon Knights.

Demon Knights
It’s gonna be Seven Samurai, but more medieval with a lot more dragons. My only gripe is that Etrigan is no longer speaking in iambic pentameter. Granted only a handful of comic writers know what iambic pentameter is and how to use, but still I’ll miss it.

Deathstroke
Deathstroke = Deadpool + Captain America
Can the old man still hack it as an assassin? So far he’s done a pretty good job of killing folks in the first issue. Looking forward to seeing who he kills next issue.

Suicide Squad
There is a ton of nerd rage over Harley Quinn’s new costume. I like it. Then again I’ve never thought of “Goth Slut” as a derogatory term.

I liked the Green Lantern(mostly because it just continued the storyline and didn’t reboot), I have some hope for a few others but I wish Liefeild would go away he’s fucking up two of my favorite characters Hawk and Dove.

I’ll be picking up about two weeks worth of subs Firday and I’m excited to see Dick back as Nightwing(he’s not now nor should he become Batman they’re two seperate identities if anyone should inherit the mantle it should be Tim Drake). Oh and this is happening in the Batman book
I haven’t gotten to Green Lantern yet. Hawk & Dove? I passed on that book. Never thought much of the duo until they were two hot chicks. Then they were pretty awesome. Then DC started killing off the Hawk character every few months. There must be some love/hate power struggle going on in the DC offices when it comes to those two.

I never liked Dick Grayson as Batman. He should stay as Nightwing. The boy should grow to be his own man, not a carbon copy of his father. I like Tim Drake as Red Robin too. They should groom Damien or maybe introduce Terry McGinnis and use one of them as the “fill-in” Batman nest time Bruce needs to take a break.

Anything in the new 52 that you’d recommend as a must read?

Kindle Fire tablet available for pre-order for $199:

Good deal for people looking to get into tablets and missed out on the touchpad.

I wonder how hard this will be to get a hold of for the Holidays, do I order one as an X-mas present now, or do I wait to see how the other guys respond?

Deadpool is a spoof of Deathstroke, Wade Wilson-Slade Wilson, Stroke-Pool, even the costume is a nod to the 2nd most bad ass character in the DCU(Hawkman is #1). I’m sort of looking forward to Hawkman his history is so fucked up by Johns did a decent job fixing him I hope they don’t fuck it all up. Red Hood and the Outlaws has promise I’m hoping it becomes like The Outsiders when it first came out or The Titans they have two of the main Titans characters in it. Bringing in Terry you say? Well Batman Beyond is now sort of cannon so it is possible. I wish DC would figure out what it is doing though some of the books are in the past Action and JLA, and some didn’t get any retcon at all The Gl books it just seems awful confusing and then there is that female Time Master rip off who was in Flashpoint and has made a few appearences in the new 52 wil is all this stuff just a storyline ala Age of Apocylpse? Sorry for that wall of text run ons and misspells I’m at work and don’t have time between customers to form clear concise sentences

I was trying to put Deathstroke’s badassness in terms Marvel fans would understand. Well, so WolBarrett would understand.

I like Starfire and Roy Harper as Arsenal. I liked Jason Todd in the Red Hood anime, but can’t say much about him in the comics. DC could replace him with Jade, Metamorpho, and Black Lightning; I’d be pretty happy with that.

Superboy #1 looks to be pitting Superboy against the Teen Titans. I’m guessing the Titans will be seeing a new member before too long.

Dick and Tim found their own ways to grow up and not be the Batman, so shoe horning them into the Batman role just feels odd. Terry was pretty much created to be Batman v2.0, and he hasn’t seen much use in the comic books. I think he’d make a pretty good Bats substitute if DC needed one.

I agree about this DCnU. It seems like every other book is in a different time line. Justice League #1 had Hal Jordan, Superman, and Batman meeting for the first time. JLI #1 has Batman as a senior JLA member, plus he’s well acquainted with Guy Gardner and Booster Gold. Huh??? DC needs to put something on the first page of every comic. “Old Universe” “New Universe”

I skipped Flashpoint. Time Master? Is she the woman in a white cloak and hood who pops up in the background every so often? I’ve seen her in Grifter and Green Arrow. I was gonna ask if anyone had seen her in other comics.

Netflix just put Star Trek The animated series (1972) up.

I didn’t even know they made a cartoon with the voices of the original cast.

Interesting.

Damn. They are digging deep into those vaults.

I knew there was a Star Trek cartoon, but I’ve never seen it. May give me something to do when I get home.

It is shockingly not that bad. Only seen two eps though.

It’s so retro it is almost back in now.

Screw that, how’s X-Men: Destiny?

Exactly, stop being a tease X.

Haven’t even had time to play it yet.

I didn’t even want to put it in because I knew I wouldn’t get far. I should have time this afternoon though.

I’ll give an opinion of it probably by tomorrow.

So far the biggest let down yet the Flash. Spoiler alert Flashpoint wwas the storyline that set up this new universe, and after Barry reset the universe you’d think he would have had it so he could be married to his true love Iris West Allen but no he’s with some other lady it just didn’t feel right. The New Captain Atom was strange as well I think that DC will try to connect him to Firestorm somehow his powers have changed and he can transmute elements now similar to Firestorm and now his powers are nuclear based(rather than the strange alien metal that they blew up under Capt Nathan Adam)
Finally DC really has to put out a timeline one shot like they did after the original Crisis that sort of explained what was going on. Right now the only stuff I can really figure out is Action and JLA are the past most everything else is the present and Green Lantern didn’t change at all.

Played the first few scenes of X-men Destiny. The script for this is not at the same depth as games like Infamous (which seemed to be aimed at late-teens and adults in spite of the comic book inspired art". You have a choice of playing as three different people. The “choose your own adventure” aspect means you could play it several different ways…but the flat and bland script so far is making me wonder if I really want to spend another several hours finding out if the rest of the game is worth it.

The graphics are not “awe-inspiring”. I would almost say the look is more at the level of 2006 than 2011.

Maybe I’m just being harsh. Maybe I’ll play more of it and retract all of this.

It would seem the Game Spot editor agrees with me
In X-Men: Destiny, awful combat and meaningless choices combine to create a new mutation of boredom.
What good are mutant superpowers without exciting reasons to use them? As X-Men: Destiny proves, they’re no good at all. In this busted beat-'em-up, clobbering swarms of stupid bad guys with your newfound abilities is tedious, and although a constant supply of choices tries to convince you that your actions have real impact on this tumultuous world, they don’t have much impact at all. Destiny does the incredible: it makes being a genetic marvel a generic bore.
6337609NoneThanks for the help, Gambit and friends, but I think I got this.
It’s a grim new era for the mutants. Professor X is dead, and anti-mutant sentiment is running high. You choose one of three characters, each with his or her own backstory. Whomever you choose, your mutant powers awaken when a mutant-human peace rally in San Francisco is attacked by anti-mutant thugs called purifiers. As you come to terms with your powers, you’re given many choices that let you align yourself more with Cyclops and the X-Men or with Magneto and the Brotherhood. But these choices have almost no impact on the course of the game. For instance, you can make Brotherhood choices straight down the line and still end up fighting Magneto in a boss battle. Regardless of your decisions, you go through the same levels and find yourself in the same final conflict. Some games give you real choice; some create a convincing illusion of choice. X-Men: Destiny just drops a bunch of meaningless choices in your path.
And in the Wii version, sometimes those choices aren’t clear. You might finish a boss battle only to be abruptly presented with an image of Cyclops and an image of Magneto and be told to “Choose Your Destiny.” In the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, a preceding cutscene makes it clear exactly what this choice means, but not here. During some conversations, you see goofy comic book portraits; during others, fuzzy character models just stand in place without moving their mouths as they chat. There’s some fine voice acting and the occasional decent motion comic sequence, but everything else about the way the story is presented is embarrassing.
You choose what type of power you want from three options: energy projection, shadow matter, and density control. But like the story choices you make, this decision has little real impact. You spend most of your time fighting swarms of mindless purifier thugs, and mashing the attack button is all it takes to clobber these buffoons regardless of which power you choose. As you tap the attack button to pummel bad guys with the same attacks over and over, text often appears indicating that your combo is “uncanny” or “ultimate,” which is hilarious because you’re doing so little. This is combat at its shallowest. Boss fights are just as bad. Most bosses can be defeated with brute force; just walk up to them and pound the attack button. A few bosses have attacks you actually need to avoid, but these bosses follow simple patterns, and once you have those patterns figured out, there’s no excitement in fighting them or sense of triumph in defeating them.

Man, I wish I was told about this show earlier, X.

It’s pretty damn good, I’m halfway through the 2nd season and I’m hooked.

Currently my favorite show on tv. Shame it possibly only has one more season after this one until it comes to a end if they don’t decide to end it this year.

Anyone going to get Elder scrolls: skyrim? It looks like it could be awesome? bit off topic but still?

First 2 episodes this season have been great though, I was really wondering what direction they’d take it with the possibilities they had on the table at the end of s6, and so far I like it.
