My impression? I like it. I’m not a fan of the overly-textured costume thing that started with Spider-Man, but that’s a minor quibble. As an artist? I’d say they should have trimmed his hair more: makes the head look smaller and the body bigger. But those are really minor quibbles. Cavill was a scrawny pretty-boy. They’ve either done a good job making a muscle suit look natural, or he really busted ass to add some meat for the role.
They look like they’re doing a “takes no shit” kind of Superman… and it’s about fucking time. I’d hoped that Nolan and Snyder, given their track records, could do something amazing. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
For extra geek glee points? Check the S. They’re using the crest of the Golden Age/WW II/Earth II Superman. My favourite version. Which means there’ll be t-shirts when the movie comes out. Which means I’m gettin’ me a new training shirt.
Fuck yeah. I’m looking forward to this flick.
Also, Avengers apparently wrapped up filming a few weeks back. They’re in the editing room now.
My opinion…I think he will probably be the best Superman yet. His acting history seemed to set him up as a great choice for this…always skipped over for past roles that have become famous.

They’re all gussed up in suits for CGI motion capture, man… and when Thor’s hitting guys, they’re crawling out of the way of the shot after dropping. My guess is that, like in the comics, we’ll see mooks/aliens/whatever flying across the screen when Thor tags 'em.
Remember: with comic book physics, people don’t explode when the heroes punch them. Even if that hero can curve-ball a tank.

Yeah. Reeves may have defined the role, but I think Cavill may end up owning it. I’m the same way about this flick that I am about the Avengers: it’s got the right people behind it, and a great vision. At this point they’re both on the cusp of doing something great. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
I keep thinking back about being a comic-obsessed kid, and how I would have freaked the fuck out if this kind of thing had been coming out back when I was seven or eight. This is awesome.

I’ve been indifferent to this Superman movie project, thinking it was just last ditch effort on WB’s part to keep the fuckwads that make up the Siegel and Shuster families from getting their claws further into Superman property. After reading some of the posts around here and figuring out who Cavill is, I’m now looking forward to it. Fuck the whiny bitches over at Topless Robot. The timing for Superman couldn’t be better for Cavill. He’s probably still in shape from filming “Immortals”, so adding a more mass for the blue tights shouldn’t be too hard. I may have to look into this a bit more.
Okay WTF is this one? I think I actually got a chubby. Is this a future game in development? Or just a short development to show the tech?
It’s showcasing Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 using directx11, more tech that’s been around for a while now and was used to power Unreal Tournament 3 as well as the newest Batman games, Arkham Asylum/City.
Opening scene of Conan. It may not be purist R.E. Howard (I’d have loved to see A Witch Shall Be Born adapted for the big screen), but if the rest of the movie is this awesome, I’ll come out of the theatre screaming for heads to cleave.
I soured on these after the second one the third is just strange and the fourth I turned off after the dude lat pulldowned a freaking airplane. Just stop making them and reboot already and let Romero write it
Romero was actually the very first choice to direct Resident Evil. The details surrounding his departure were hazy, but I don’t think he left the project because of his demands: Romero just isn’t that type of guy.
I vaguely recall some mental patient dribble press release about him not being "commercial enough " to direct a big budget movie in a genre he almost single-handedly created.
There’s even a draft of a Romero-penned Resident Evil script out there somewhere…
I know and I think they must have taken some of the elements from his script when they did the first one. He also did this Japanese commercial for Resident Evil 2 Resident Evil 2 Commercial - YouTube
If you knew that, why did you want Romero to write a reboot when he’d already been fired from the project once before? I’ve read the Romero script. It was nothing like Paul W.S. Anderson’s version. If anything it was closer to Land of the Dead, with all the characters from the original game making an appearance. Any common elements were taken from the game itself (e.g. zombie dogs).
I was basically saying he shouldn’t have been fired and he should be hired to do a reboot
Well, I know what movie I’ll be seeing when I get home.
