Full comeback from ACL???

Hello, all! I’m 16 months post-ACL surgery, and I finally did 315 again on a FULL squat at the end of my 1-6 theory workout. Before T-mag and pre-injury, I used to squat with this weight (only to parallel, though) for 3 sets of 10. Which, leads me to my questions:

  1. What is a “guideline” for the difference in weight from a FULL squat to a parallel squat?

  2. Pre-injury, my squat max was 425 (to parallel). I also had a measured 34" vertical jump. In addition, I was VERY fast. Does anyone with any post-surgery experience (or know someone that does, trainers), know if I can realistically reach this level again?

Simple answer… yes. Work on flexibility, have ART done on the necessary areas. I take my squats to breaking parallel. Some people like them deep, and I do them for a variation, but more can be handled if you just break parallel. Believe me , that’s deep. What most people in my experience call parallel is actually an inch or two or three above. Remember the hip joint has to break parallel in reference to the knee.

As for a guideline for a difference between a full squat and parallel squat, Poliquin has said that most people full squat 75-100lbs less than a parallel (half squat). I have found this to be pretty accurate.

As I have done half squats with 315, but can only full squat 205-225 (for one to six reps, depending on the weight).
