Four Weeks Without Alcohol

Do you HATE alcohol with every bit of your being yet?

You have every right to feel great about this.

Do NOT let your guard down, 'cause when you least expect it, wham! And I mean WHAM!

I wouldn’t say I hate it, its more just a certainty that I absolutely can’t have a drink ever again, or that will be the end of me.

One thing that has helped me so much was what one poster on my original alcoholics thread said. He told me that each time I’m on the verge of giving in I should think about what would happen after the first drink. This really helps me. I also find I have to cling to God every minute. The minute I let God out of my sight is the minute the horrible desire takes over.

Thanks again everyone
!

Keep an attitude of gratitude. If you’re truly grateful for what you have and know in your heart of hearts that everything in your life that’s good could go away if you start drinking again, you’ll be on the right track.

I’m looking at 4 years come March 20th and I can say with almost total certainty that I’d be dead if I had kept going the way I was going.

Ive struggled with alcohol abuse for about ten years. I quit for about nine months and now I have an occasional glass or two of wine with meals. I have a passion for wine as I work in a wine bar and I am trying to practice self control with it as wine can be a great benefit to your health. Im not saying you should do this, but I used to be a chronic drunk with blackouts and everything and now I live a much more stable life and can enjoy wine in moderation. Good luck to you.

Good luck to you, brother.

All I can say to people is that you’ll never fall off the middle of the building.

Good job friend.

Alcohol is a difficult addiction to conquer, with it being so ingrained in our society and history. Few can admit they have an addiction, and to conquer it everyday is praiseworthy.

They say that three weeks out is the cut-off point for any habit!

Just don’t go hanging around people who are drinking, and you’ll be fine. At least, that’s what messes me up.[/quote]

Yea. I gave up drinking at least 20 times, and boy, after that 3 week barrier you never go back!
