The ‘logic’ behind the universalist forced health insurance policy is that it will prevent you from showing up at the emergency room uninsured when you get sick. So, once you’ve broken down the ideological barriers that individuals have the freedom of choice and that the government can’t force people to take care of themselves, what’s going to stop them from forcing us to undergo mandatory medical evaluation in the name of prevention so that future medical problems don’t create a burden on the system (this was actually a component of John Edwards’ healthcare plan), and once that madness is in place, what’s going to stop them from forcing you to comply with medical recommendations in the name of prevention?
We already have forced mental health screening for kids in the works- The President’s “New Freedom Commission on Mental Health”- and the CPS can already take your kids into custody if you refuse to comply with a doctor’s recommendations and the doctor reports it. Besides having unacceptable economic consequences, I think universal healthcare is an ideologically dangerous policy. Hillary Clinton is a mindfucked socialist.
