now this is the kind of thing i have been talking about in my WAR IN IRAQ THREAD.
this is why we have to scale back the forces in iraq and worry about this issue.
we cant fight 2 countries at once. it cant be done. well, i guess it could but we wouldnt be very effective.
this is why iraq needs to start taking action and do something for themselves.
useing force to eliminate a nuclear weopon is something i find very necessary. if they refuse to give it up.

I agree with you tha Iraq needs to stand on it’s own.
I have no doubt we can fight 2 wars at the same time. The hardest part would not be defeating Irans military and removing its government, I think the hardest part would be occupation.

indeed. we have been so caught up with iraq. that we have lost sight of the other major issues that have been building up around the mid-east. We have been trying to get Iraq to take care of itself while the whole time countrys like Korea and Iran have been working to develop nuclear weapons.

ok, here is where it gets tricky. If we are forced to fight 2 countries at once that would mean we would have to send more people from US to Iran. that would mean mobilizing more guard and reserve troops. not to mention active duty troops. in turn that puts a great strain on the millitary. there will be hardly anyone left at home to defend the bases and to work relief efforts for things like Katrina.
the millitary is already cutting back and closeing down bases nation wide. to help conserve money for the war in Iraq.
then with our attention divided on two countries and the millitary spread very thin here. it will leave us open and be a perfect time for a terroist attack.
and as far as occupation goes. It will be extremly hard to keep to irons in the fire that are on such a large scale as of what we would need to controle both situations in Iraq & Iran.

A bunch of pretty good stuff
I think history will be the judge. Not us. Not the immediate gratification of everyone getting along right now.
I think whatever we do to keep angry Islamofacists from hijacking planes and flying them into buildings, or placing explosives on trains and subways, is the right thing.
even if that means takeing away some of our rights? What price do the American people have to pay to feel safe? I dont know about you but I don’t want the FBI or CIA tapping my phone line.
Indeed
Make them happy? We will never make them happy. The people we are dealing with have been at war with each other for a very long time. Over a difference in religious beliefs. It is very hard to change something someone believes in. (For Example)
there are two major religios beliefs
(realy more than 2 over there remember example.)
The Muslims (that are Wahabi) in the exreamist group who believe that any who don’t follow there religion should be purged.
And the rest of the muslims who beleive that they can tolerate all.
Now do you expect the Wahabi to just give up there faith and convert the the later? It will never happen. There for they will never be happy.
Killing the bad guys, and giving people over there a taste of self determination will go much much farther to ending interneational terrorism than all of the “I’m sorry’s” ever will.
I think most of these people have pretty good self determination. I mean you have got to be pretty damned determined to be able to hijack a plane.
But I could be wrong.

Im not gonna touch that.
