What is the supposed advantage of an iron skillet anyway? @FatKidfromFL you probably know
I believe it’s because the heat is disbursed evenly.

But yeah, cast iron is pretty versatile since it can go from stove-top straight into the oven or double as a roasting pan (for a whole chicken or whatnot), but they can be a pain to clean. Like, there are actual rules to cleaning it. Hand-wash/scrub, no soap, etc.

and not to mention the “seasoning” aspect/coating with oil. Makes some amazing steaks if done right but not worth the effort for me

The oven thing is a good point, but is a regular non-stick pan really so bad?
For sure. I just saw the setup for the homophone bit and couldn’t resist.
Not so bad, unless your Mrs. has a thing about the dangers of chemicals so you use cast iron because… “healthier, chemical-free alternative”. Anyhow, we use a steel ice cube tray for similar reasons.

Yeah I’ve never really known if those concerns are actually warranted.
Cheap and easy steak dinner.
Not a great shot but here is a pan seared Chilean sea bass dish I made a while ago.
Crock pot ghetto beef burgundy.
I’ve been making a lot of spatchcock roast chicken lately. Cooks in 45 min or so.
