I’ll say this, being an actor/actress has got to be one of the most fucked up jobs out there. [/quote]
I agree with you. Pretending to be someone else, then if you do a really good job getting all kinds of accolades. But then going into a spiral worrying that people don’t really like or know YOU. Or on the flip-side believing that what you did on screen or stage fills in the gaps of your broken and cracked personality.
I think for a man to chose this career and be able to navigate it well into his adulthood is impressive. Seems you’d have to be very grounded to not fall into all the bullshit and just go out and do your job.

Didn’t Mark Wahlberg make some sort of statement about how he would have stopped the 9/11 attacks if he were on one of the planes?
There’s a lot fantastic actors out there that put their heart & soul into their roles. I’d say over that last 20 years we’ve been really blessed. If you want to see what I mean, go back and watch some old Starsky & Hutch or something like that. The actors today are at a completely different level.
Some names not mentioned so far:
Worst; Alecia Silverstone. Holy crap. I remember watching that batman movie she was in. I was yelling up the stairs to my wife “honey, come down here. You’ve gotta see this chick acting. She’s just saying her lines.” I failed to get my wife to come see, but the point is the acting was so bad I was compelled to try to get others to share in the mockery.
Best (well, very good and unmentioned); Shia Lefuf, Hillary Shwank, that blond chic with the fivehead who was in the legally Blond movies.
Ralph Fiennes — played the most evil character in basically everything, from the Nazi in Shindler’s List to Voldemort to the pyscho killer in Red Dragon.

Reese Witherspoon, also stupidly attractive. Have to agree with Hilary Swank especially in Million Dollar Baby.
Up there with Alicia Silverstone has to be Christina Ricci, although strangely hot she can’t act for shit, along with Katie Holmes and Gwyneth Paltrow seems to bore the shit out of me.
Amy Adams destroys in everything she’s in. Her Aemelia Earhart in Night at the Museum was great.
Cate Blanchette is always great too. The Hepburn role in The Aviator, Babel. All amazing performances.
Tilda Swinton rarely dissapoints as well. Not much to look at, that one, but she knows what she’s doing. Her part in “Michael Clayton” is a hard one to forget.
Juiliane Moore, Boogie Nights, Hannibal (out-acted Jodie Foster in that character), and she really sold it in The Kids are All Right.
Laura Linney always looks great and acts her balls off too. Mystic River wouldn’t be the same with a different actress playing the role of Annabeth
