Favorite Vocal Performance

No thread about vocal performances is complete without this legendary performance.

My two all time favorite female vocalists are Jane Monheit and Ella Fitzgerald

A band from Spain that’s pretty unheard of here. I think this is one of the greatest covers of all time, and her voice is absolutely beautiful, despite needing to back off the mic a bit.

Second one gives me chills every time.

Mike Beams, he is the growl/low vocalist. As a huge fan of music having listened to all different kinds of genres I still find his voice to be the best. He is very deep yet enuciates his words well. It clearly has alot of throat as opposed to the more breathy assault of someone like Barnes or Rahmer, yet isn’t a gurgle or squeal of modern brutal deathmetal or deathcore. I’d love to here him as the sole vocalist of a band. Although so far all he has is some demo songs for his one man project Bereave. As far as singers i’ve always been fond of Corey Taylor of Slipknot/Stone Sour. Always thought his clean singing was alot better than he seems to get credit for.

Also wanted to throw Corey Taylor out there. Massive range, handles growls and melodies well, and I think he’s really impressive.

I’m not including a video on purpose. Most of us know his work, I think.

old skool

BEST EVER!!!11!

Awesome band to see live. Same 2 songs, performed live, yet are completely different and both great. You never know what you’re going to get when you go to one of their shows… they don’t stick strictly to a set list but rather just sit down and play for a few hours.

As soon as I saw the thread title that is the first one that popped into my head. Cornell could fucking WAIL back then.

It’s hard to top Tate when he could still hit the notes. There is a top-notch QR cover band here in AZ that is absolutely spot-on.

Absolutely.

Here’s an old live performance of Beyond The Wheel where Cornell’s vocals will make your hair stand on end and peel the paint off your walls. Effin’ awesome!
(Eddie Vedder was singing the low parts).

Also, Pagan’s Mind singer Nils K. Rue is such a throwback to when metal singers soared! He sounds like Tate, Dio, Dickinson, Halford and Bowie all wrapped up in one.

Grandfathers of rock balladeers.

Don’t know how you can get any better than this.

This thread is a winner. Nice work gents
