Favorite B Flicks

Thanks, iscariot!

Like I stated, it gets a little confusing these days. A good example was “Plan 9…” (Thanks for the correction!)

My understanding is that the guy got a camera; some friends and family; cheap sets and makeup; and got the film distributed.

This would be IMPOSSIBLE today, making the “true” B film impossible.

So I look at the ones that bombed at the Box Office, but have gotten World-Wide acclaim and following since as today’s “B” movie. Guess it’s a question of semantics.

(What about “A Christmas Story”?)

Mufasa

Strange Brew

“A Christmas Story”…

In 1983, not even a Box Office Flop…it was IGNORED…!

Thanks to Loyal Fans and TNT…now a Classic…

(Note: I probably would have been a little disappointed to see it in the Movies. It is more of a “DVD” Type Movie you sit around the Fire and watch with your family).

Mufasa

Yes!

Also for the list:

Clerks, Clerks 2, and Mallrats. (Chasing Amy and Dogma just aren’t on the same level.)

And how about the first Swamp Thing (with Adrienne Barbeau).

The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai

To End All Wars
Kung Fu Hustle
Jackie Chan’s Who Am I?
Waking Ned Devine

I think Boondock Saints is my favorite movie of all time.
Ditto, you guys HAVE to check outlay4rcake also.

Army of Darkness (directed by Sam Raimi long before Spiderman & Spiderman 2)

Best quote: “Alright, you primitive screwheads, listen up: THIS is my BOOMSTICK!”

Agreed that Big Trouble in Little China is an all-time great. Not sure if I would consider it a “B” movie, though.

I liked Excalibur and Boondock Saints too. But Sat. Night I saw one that was in it’s own league- Bubba Ho-Tep.

It’s about an Elvis Impersonator and a black man that thinks he’s JFK fighting a mummy that terrorizes an E. Texas nursing home. It’s about more than that too, but read the reviews.
That movie rocks.

No particular order. Most of these have already been mentioned, but I don’t care, they rock and are favs. of mine…

Hackers,

Tremors,

THEM! Kudos to icariot for having seen this amazingly ridiculous movie,

Army of Darkness–THE definitive awesome B movie,

Princess Bride,

Desperado,

Roadhouse–Patrick Swayze rips a man’s throat out,

Blind Fury (Rutger Hauer as a blind man with a cane/samurai sword wreaking bloody revenge),

Boondock Saints/Equilibrium/Bladerunner don?t count as B movies in my book, all are amazing and favs. though

Quicksilver highway?oh my word I thought I was watching an LSD trip…I don?t know if I?ve ever laughed so hard in my life at the hands? story, I almost passed out along with my dad (you?ll get it when you watch it–has Christopher Lloyd in it),

Big Trouble in Little China?2nd the Kurt Russell performance,

Buckaroo Bonzai–doogie gets major points for mentioning this (a film that had Jon Lithgow, Peter Weller, Jeff Goldblum, and Christopher Lloyd!),

**no Dr. Strangelove?! I?m ashamed of you people!

most 80s high school movies,

the Wraith (ridiculous early Charlie Sheen movie),

and Red Dawn (strictly for MST3000 purposes)

6-string Samurai doesn’t make my list only because I haven’t seen it yet. I want to badly.

There’s one more that I can’t remember the name for the life of me…

forgot abotu that! Great flick…

I won’t dilute the magnificence of that movie by adding any other titles to my list.

Kurt Russell puts in quite possibley the greatest performance in the history of cinema. No hyperbole intended.
Oh heck yeah…awesome movie…think I’ll go watch it now.

Others for me:

-Spaceballs (a cult classic movie, not necessarily a B movie)
-Kung Pow!

(Yeah, I like ‘stupid movies’)

How could i forget this film???

one of the movies that made me want to get into martial arts hahaha

Some great movies that I love have been mentioned…don’t know if you can call them B movies, but two that shouldn’t be missing are

Mad Max 1 + 2

I agree with many of these…

But nobody’s mentioned Repo Man yet?

What the hell is wrong with you people?

Anything that was ever on MST3k.

And also anything with Bruce Campbell in it.

The mention of Tremors makes me remember a couple more wonderful “B” movies starring Fred Ward:

Remo Williams

Cast A Deadly Spell–a must-see for Lovecraft fans

Oh–and no way can Dr Strangelove be considered a B movie: Directed by Stanley Kubrick and on most movie critics’ Top 10 Movies of All Time lists.

Me too, now that you mention it (If anyone does not know…it’s “The Last Dragon”. had Ernie Reyes Jr’s first role as a kid.)

“WHO’S THE MASTER??”

“SHO-NUFF!!!”

Oldies but goodies (not sure if they qualify for this thread, but definately worth a mention:

Animal “Holy SHIT” House
Beverly Hills Ninja
The Barbarians
