Look up Spinsanity or Hardylaw.net. There are just two sources that debunk Moore’s empty presentations and bogus arguments.
Nitrox,
“Kinda like the Bush admin and the case of WMD’s no?”
I smelled this one a mile down the road once someone brought up Moore’s inability to tell the truth. But it’s utter nonsense. If you don’t think so, review President Bill Clinton’s foreign policy speeches circa 1998 and the bipartisan Iraq Liberation Act (1998). Review the text of UN Resolution 1441.
Someone once said “there’s no such profession as a stand-up journalist”, and that’s the problem with Moore - he insists he is the truth-teller that makes documentaries exposing the truth, but when called on his reckless use of facts and blatant misrepresentations, Moore suddenly exclaims “Hey, I’m a comic! I’m a satirist! How is it lying if it’s comedy?”
Just as Jayson Blair will never be taken seriously as a reporter due to his irresponsibility, Moore should never been taken seriously as a documentarian.
“It’s a movie. What has truth or reality got to do with a movie?”
No it isn’t. It’s offered as a documentary. Huge difference.
“Little things like truth and reality aren’t even adhered to in the political arena, why should the entertainment arena be held to a higher standard?”
Responsibility in journalism, for starters. Geez, what do they teach in school these days?
“I think we just have a bunch of people with their panties in a bunch because they don’t like what it is likely to be saying about their beloved leader.”
Perhaps, but criticism is really only as good as the critic. If Joe Biden criticizes Bush, I’ll listen, even if I don’t agree. Moore is a hack, a cipher for calcified left-wing lazy thinking. His opinion has the weight of a souflee.
If you look at Moore’s site, he answers the charges that he lied or twisted the truth in “Bowling for Columbine” one by one.
He also contends that he DID interview the guy Goldberg refers to. It’s all on his website.
The whole point of a documentary is to put forward a strong point of view. A documentary that doesn’t have a strong opinion about it’s subject matter, is a weak documentary.
Soloman: sorry, my retort was a little tongue in cheek. I guess the point is both sides need to be heard. I don’t have a problem with this movie because the Bush family’s dealings since before WWII have been highly suspect (even criminal at times). I don’t think that someone voicing some concerns about this is a problem. I do not think that Moore is lying here; I think he’s found some things that I believe to be at least somewhat true. When watching the movie, you don’t necessarily have to agree with what you see. The right has plenty of a voice these days; Rush and Ann Coulter are very popular. The Fox News Channel is almost militant in its conservatism. I think most people will tend to listen to what they agree with. There is a lot of conservatism in the media. I have found that most radio stations in this area have jocks that are very pro-Bush. I never hear the liberal view here (Florida, duh! :))
Jocks here were going apeshit about the Berg incident when its clear the video is fake (at the very least, highly edited and not happening in real time). The end result is someone is dead so it probably doesn’t matter; what matters are conservatives encouraging people to watch the video to further their point. This is a powerful message that detracts from the left’s point of view. What’s more disturbing to me is the timing of the video and some of the questions regarding its origin and purpose. There is no way the CIA identified the main ringleader of this video. It still had quite an effect on people. Both sides are equally guilty of doing what it takes to get their point across and to affect change relative to their political goals. It sucks.
Moore?s retorts are weak ? he actually blames his misrepresentation of the Willie Horton kerfuffle as a ?typo?. If what Moore has to say about the Bush family is true, you think some other media outlet wouldn?t want to have scooped this story for themselves years ago? Why not the DNC itself in 2000?
Lucid,
?the Bush family’s dealings since before WWII have been highly suspect (even criminal at times)?
Oh yeah? Which criminal laws? Do tell.
?The Fox News Channel is almost militant in its conservatism.?
In its editorializing, yes; in its reporting, no. Don’t forget - it was FoxNews that broke the story of Bush’s DUI four days before the 2000 election. If they were in such cahoots to get a conservative elected, you think they would broke that story at that time, knowing it could have an effect on the looming election? As usual, the FoxNews scapegoat is a lazy man’s way out.
?its clear the video is fake?
Source, please. I?d like to read up on this.
Actually, I think your original idea is right, Lucid, both sides need to be heard. Too many liberals and conservatives don?t do anything but read or listen to what amounts to an echo chamber of their own ideas, nodding their head in drooling approval.
“I hear Fidel Castro is having some trouble - why don’t you upstanding Americans/Canadians go give him some support?”
—>Better yet, why don’t we invade Cuba and install a democratic regime!
If - as Wolfowitz said of Iraq in an interview prior to the war - Cuba were “swimming on a sea of oil,” I am sure that we would have invaded them by now.
I hate the very air that Moore breathes - I find it insulting that people died on Normandy in order to allow this needle-dicked asshole the right to spew his anti-american vitriole.

I wish you could see how stupid you look when you make statements like this. You want to shut him down as if we were in a facist state. The more I read your posts the more I realize that you love facism! All you talk about is silencing us dissenters. You are really a throwback. Don’t you have a cross to burn or something?
BTW, for those who haven’t watched the preview yet, you should. I can’t wait to see the movie myself. According to reviews, Moore doesn’t have to say much. He just lets the camera run and let the story tell itself. That last scene of the preview with GW delivering a short speech of his pro-war rhetoric and then saying, “Now watch this drive,” as he continues his golf game is classic Bush. But those of you who have elevated him to superhero status, don’t watch it. It may shatter your fragile illusions about him.
There is a third possibility i.e. Bush has made tons on bad mistakes regarding Iraq, AND Moore’s film will will be as factually correct as “The Day After Tomorrow” is scientifically valid.
Is that all you have left in your little bag, Roy? Petty insults?
I don’t like Moore - sorry to disapoint you. I don’t like him at all, and my honesty is stupid?
I am ashamed of him, as an American, and I’m a racist? Is that what you’re saying? Because I really don’t want to get the wrong impression. But that may just be the stupid, racist, facist in me.
Wait…Roy if it will make you feel better, your just a big fat stupid head…nyah.
This statement is completely ridiculous and insensitive. Rainjack is not Robert Byrd(Dem former kkk member). Why has race been involved in this thread?
Here’s George Bush hanging out with Prince Bandar, or as he is nicknamed “Bandar Bush” (one of the family).
“If what Moore has to say about the Bush family is true, you think some other media outlet wouldn?t want to have scooped this story for themselves years ago?”
There are a whole slew of people covering this story, but not the so-called Elite Liberal Media (maybe they’re not as liberal as you think).
Try looking at the books “American Dynasty” or “House of Bush, House of Saud”
