Facebook (Rant)

same here. Facebook seems to be more popular than myspace lately, which sucks, because I refuse to use facebook, too fucking cluttered.

Twitter- don’t even get me started on that gay worthless shit.

Am I the only one who thinks everyone should have stuck to myspace? It’s much easier to use, and you customize it to block out anything you don’t want to see.

The problem is that our uncles, aunts, and grandma’s didn’t get onboard with it.

Agreed. I have some familiar members that would be nice to contact via myspace occasionally, but no, they created facebook accounts, rubbish I say

meh i got facebook, then realised it would be a huge waste of time to make a myspace and add all those people again.

Now this particular person obsessively “posts updates” through out the day. I can’t recall anything posted by this person that’s been life altering to anyone. There are a few more people who let everyone know that they’re “feeling … uhm … ok.” Really? You thought that all 237 “friends” you have are dying to know that you’re “feeling … uhm … ok”?

Are people really that egocentric that they have to post up on EVERYTHING they’re doing as if their word keeps the sky from crashing down on us? They talk about bodybuilders being narcissists; I have a few friends from here on facebook and they don’t post HALF as much useless shit as my non-TN friends. And we’re supposed to be the narcissists?

Seriously, get over yourselves for a second, stop posting about the mocha-capa-latte frappechino dipped biscotti that was so amazing you just to rave about to the 1,000,000,000 teenage zombies that are so afraid of the sun that they waste their day watching Hills reruns on demand (thanks GB), texting their friends how fab LC’s hair looks, how much sugar flavored shit alcohol they drank last night and how high their tolerance is, and reading “twits” posted by the celebutwat that’s the most “in” and the moment.

I might be being a bit too critical. Like I said earlier facebook and twitter do have their good points. I mean the majority of the media coverage we have from Iran right now isn’t coming from the on-the-ground in the thick of the riot reporting but from actual demonstrators twittering their fucking heads off until the local fascists kick in their door and beat them until their heads actually fall off. But the use of this media is too few an far between for me to think it’s actually beneficial to the betterment of human society.

You’re not too critical… but it’s annoying as fuck, when every one is posting what they had for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Then they have to upload shit loads of pics of their food… People are updating facebook like its twitter. “Watching this show”… Next 5 min, “Taking a shower”… Next 10 min “I’m bored”, next 5 min “Watching this show” and repeat.

There are also people on my FB posting comments about how they are “starting” to work on their beach body while giving everyone else bad weight lifting advice… Face Palms

suree

facebook is just some more typical social bullshit.

I know people who are not really friends and dont talk to each other in real life that post some stupid childish laid back stuff on each other picture. stuff like LolZ hahahHA!!! you’re HOOOTTT. or just ""I wanna be liked and we are all friends’’ kind of stuff

It is all the same crap.

I found that there are two kinds of people out there. The first kind is the kind of person (guy or gal) who does interesting things because he enjoys it, sleeps with attractive partners because its fun, and enjoys the company of others because they add to the situations.

The second kind of person who lives socially like its a fucking contest. They go for the hottest girl/guy so their friends will be impressed, socialize only with people who increase their social status; simply look for any and all opportunities to prove themselves socially exceptional to others.

Facebook, myspace, twitter, youtube, or whatever is like masturbation to the second kind of person. Their narcissistic supply is the throngs of others looking for hollow gratification and attention. Very little of what these people say and experience has any real value, but just like masturbating, it feels really good.

This is an expert out of Ann Rand’s Fountainhead that is a perfect description of your average social website addict, “There was no such person as Mrs. Wayne Wilmot; there was only an empty shell filled with the opinions of her friends.”

Ha! Keep this thread going. I don’t have facebook and I don’t think I’ll ever need it as long as I can read this shit.

I’m trying, I just can’t seem to get with the program!!

How bout a “I effin hate you button?” LOL.

You single folks that don’t have facebook are fucking nuts. It’s like a goddamn bullpen for women, even ones you haven’t seen in a long time.

“Well Jim, it’s looking like Irish is half in the bag and lonely on a friday night, he’s on the phone… Welp, we see a lefty warming up in the bullpen…”

“Oh Joe, he must be completely in the bag, because he doesn’t talk to that one unless he’s real drunk… oh, he just posted on the wall. She’s coming out the bullpen.”

“Jim, I’m not sure how this will play out in the seventh and eighth innings, may be a bad decision… Irish is going to regret this one when he sees the replay.”

I cant figure out who is sadder the people that constantly post status updates and spend every hour on facebook/twitter/myspace or the people that have nothing better to do with there time than whinge about these people using social networking sites…?

i have 3 friends on Facebook from this site. i wonder if Prof X has a facebook, i would totally friend him

Everyone, please watch this:

This is a major pet peeve of mine as well. Besides just the people who put useless crap on there all day… I really HATE the drama queens. People who post crap like this regularly… “I really didn’t think this week could get any worse, been hoping for a light at the end of the tunnel but now I know its not comming.”

Or some similar horse shit… in which then their friends have to jump in and give them the sympathy they crave with comments like “whats wrong?” or “cheer up kiddo” etc. I just want to write FUCK YOU!
So do it!

I’d friend him just so I could see what he has to say when I change status to something about an epic cheat meal.

Every few months I’ll have a friends culling session on Facebook. I really just use it to keep in touch with people and check out their holiday pics so I can look at the ones I like for longer (her in a bikini) and skip the ones I don’t really care about (her boyfriend) without having to sit there and go through them all with both of them in attendence.

Latest status update I made?

“Someone asked me yesterday why I keep having friend culls every few months… You must dare to disassociate yourself from those who would delay your journey… Leave, depart, if not physically, then mentally. Go your own way, quietly, undramatically, and venture toward trueness at last - Vernon Howard”
