Facebook Deactivate

I love the people that confuse facebook for real life. I have one but mainly for my mom that lives in another state. It makes it easy to share pics of her grandkids with her. A coworker was annoying the shit out of me so I blocked him on facebook and it was the funniest shit ever. He’s one that confuses it for real life. He still doesnt talk to me for blocking him. I’d say it worked.

A little off topic : There are a couple facebook types

 1. The lyric poster - posts the lyrics to the song he’s listening to.
 2. The vague poster - posts Wow, that was weird, with the hope that someone asks him about his shitty life.
 3. The religious freak - obvious
 4. The look what i just did - Posts every mundane aspect of their life.
I can’t believe how well this captures 99% of people on facebook. Bravo sir. LOVED #2.

Alrighty then!

I am already quite aware of the foolishness of my T-Nation activities so just refrain from pointing that out and I’ll forgive you! I am so well behaved in real life I have to have somewhere to be a retard!

If showing off the hard work you put into your body is being a retard, please, keep being a retard!

I rarely use my facebook account. I go on most of the time just to see if my sister who lives on the other side of the country has put up any new pictures of my nephew.

Also, one of my friends and I always get friend requests from people we don’t know or have met once or seen one time briefly at a bar. So right now we’re having a contest to see who can have the most pending friend requests from random people. He’s in the twenties and I’m coming up strong in the teens.

i can tell by your mustache that you’ll never be in that kind of situation.

Facebook came to my school when I was in college. I didn’t think much of it when I was using it starting out and eventually it became a life for some people. It was a way for people to keep in touch with their hookups or even friends on a weekday basis until the weekends came. Or it was a way to get hookups. It got to the point where it mattered so much what you did on facebook that it almost took precedent over your interactions in real life. That, and the stupid crap that various people posted that really made me wonder what initially gave these people the impression that the world gave a shit.

Personally, I think it’s gotten outrageous. I don’t think anyone older than 28 should have one because most of the stuff associated with it is pretty college-ish (Came out in '04 I believe and that makes them in college when it came out). As far as pictures go, never been into pictures and seeing other people pictures. I could care less about what you looked like on Halloween or the pictures you took of yourself and your friends at that concert.

And also, finding people that I’ve lost touch with…I just feel that there is a reason you lost touch with them in the first place. Legitimately, there’s only around a dozen or so people from my graduating HS class that I even bother to stay in touch with and that’s simply because I choose to through other means and everyone else…meh. College there’s more but I live nowhere close to any of them. But I still talk with them. Kinda ranty and cynical I know.

All it would take is one of my whorish stripper friends to post something like “OMG, did that drunk dude actually end up buying your pee?!”
This is the most disturbing aspect of this whole thread…that someone would buy someone else’s urine.

Kinda makes me laugh at the people saying no one over college age should have FB, what I don’t have people far away I want to keep in touch with? It’s a great vehicle for that.

Mine is a mix of friends, family, lifters in other provinces and states and people in the fitness industry (plus some people from TNation LOL). I keep that shit one all day at work to fuck around on when I’m bored. I don’t find that there are too many stupid status updates, and if there is I just block or remove, no big deal.
And yeah, my kid is in my friends. She passes half the month at her Dad’s place, FB let’s us communicate spontaneously when she is not here.

I have 234. I am so not popular.
I purge mine every 8 months or so. lol. I know some people that never clear out those they never interact with and have 1000+ friends. Craziness.
I have 1000+ friends.

1000+awesome.
Lets make a TNation thread for only us cool kids with 1000+ friends on facebook and we can all totally talk about how sweet-awesome it is and everyone with a puny >1000 friends can cry and wish they had 1000+ friends.

Yeahhhhh, I understand the OP reasons. But I think people let friends pressure them into shyt.
I have a FB page and at one time I hade friends and friends of friends and even a couple people from here on it. Then I noticed that months and months would go by with just dead air.
I would get 20 emails I would ignore and miss things like family post from over seas, military etc. So with no ill feelings I just deleted everyone but family. We use it to share pics, update info and arrange family gatherings since most of us are all over this planet now.

Use it like any tool. Make it fit your needs and if you feel you can’t handle it. Don’t use it at all.

Who really gives a shit about any of this? It makes me think you people all take that way too serious.

Honestly, facebook is nothing more than a vehicle for me to abuse people on and a place to keep in contact with girls I have, or might one day, bang or bang again. I refer to it as “The Bullpen.”

If you really give any serious thought to any of it, or the shit that goes on on the internet, you need a fuckin life.
Next time I’m just gonna PM you for advice. I always end up “fired up” and passionate to do something after reading what you write.
Copy that. Especially for advice on hair gel, and just how many sparkles can be on a ed hardy t-shirt before it becomes unmanly. I’m just guessing these are the type of iimportant things he spends his days thinking about,

I know, you wish you had as many inactive friends that you don’t even remember where you met them viewing your personal life don’t you. DON’T YOU ?!?!

And who the fuck are you to judge anything about what I think about on daily basis, or to even propose to know what those things are?

I don’t take facebook seriously because it doesn’t deserve to be taken seriosly. How that translates into me being some kind of fuckin guido, I have no idea.

In short, fuck yourself asshole.

Facebook is what you make it. It is a wonderful tool for keeping in touch with people you choose to keep in touch with; it is your choice what it contains and what is shown to others.

I have a mixture of friends, old school friends whom I knew well, family members of my age ie. Sister and cousins, and work colleagues that I know well; this means we are all ‘on the same level’; I don’t have to worry about any repercussions from what I, or anyone else posts. Accepting acquaintances as friends is only good for attention whores.

One thing to consider about FB… when I was in University I went to a career night (where people working in your field of study visit and you get a chance to network with them) one guy told me that whenever he interviews someone for a potential position he checks to see if they have FB so he can find any details about them. So if you have an open profile or at least a questionable profile picture I recommend locking your profile and change your profile picture if it is questionable.

i used to not use facebook…

then me and a group of guys from here made a facebook group thats over a year old and we each regulalry post a lot everday, they are internet friends that I would consider my boys IRL…but I also am a facebook addict now…the asshole with 5 status updates a day and posting a bunch of useless shit…I think I may use it mostly for the group now and stay off my own wall…my updates are beggining to annoy me lol
