Hip is usually headed towards San Jose to fornicate with extreme prejudice. NorCal would be my bet, but I am open to suggestions.

If it’s Cali you seek for a debaucherous drunkfest, I recommend two places.
- Palm Desert/Indian Wells
Why? Lots of places to get loaded, terrific food, great golf, the cops generally leave you alone because they rely so heavy on the visitors dollar, and within 10 minutes of any location you can walk out into the desert to see if you’re really the Lizard King.
- Ventura or Santa Barbara County coast.
Why? Same reasons listed above, except instead of the desert there’s the beach. Mostly unencumbered by the Arizonans like you’d have in San Diego, much more of a local vibe, and it’s within striking distance of the Santa Barbara County wine country (Solvang, etc). Also, it means I wouldn’t have to travel too fucking far. Seeing that it’s where I live.
San Diego does get an honorable mention, however. Just way too much good local beer down there not to have it on the list.
