If there is literally ONLY crossfit… I guess I’d check it out yanno?
I mean see if the local crossfit is teaching the lifts with proper form I think there’s a big disparity from location to location in the crossfit world.
I was just talking to a powerlifter/strongman about his gym and he also said crossfit. He said he’s going to ask around though.
Crossfit is $125-175/month and requires a $200 assessment / training bootcamp. I really like the powerlifter guy’s kind of gym though (a bit intimidating however) but what I really want is so learn the oly lifts.
He also mentioned another place but also $150 a month and are selling a lifestyle more than training
It’d be nice if I could go to a place and learn the lifts and keep going there because there are others doing it too but aren’t insane crossfit types. (I don’t really mean to hate crossfit but it’s just not my thing–I do the workouts still sometimes)
If you were in America I’d recommend go to your local college football strength and conditioning coach. Maybe they have S&C coaches up there in Canada.

Are there any universities near you? I feel like thats how Masch hooked up with her Oly trainers.
Have you asked in the Powerful Women forum? Might get some input if you start a thread in there…
I think after today’s massive failure of a leg day I quit lifting. Probably a bad choice on my part to do legs the first day back from a 3 weeks layoff of being sick. I was week as shit, stopped after 2 warmup sets and 3 working sets on the leg press. 4 plates felt like a metric ton. went on to RDL for 2 sets of 135(light weight but I felt like a pussy after my previous failure), and I feel a pop in the back of my knee, kinda where the very bottom of the hamstring is.
Literally threw the fucking barbell at the squat rack and limped to the treadmill to “walk it off” said fuck it after 3 minutes went home. No bruising, no pain, no more limping, no nothing in the back of my knee, but right under my kneecap is a crunching/grinding/clicking sound/feeling every time my quad flexes.
Every step, everytime I sit or stand, even standing if I just flex my quad; it feels like my kneecap is sliding over something and getting caught, then clicks and grinds past it and is free again.

ugh. dude lame. I’m sorry… is injured maybe?
I hate shitty fucking workouts… and to have a fucked up quad after makes it even worse
Hallowed, no uni’s really close unfortunately. I might need to adapt my goals or venture a little bit further out of town to the college I suppose.
I am struggling for a reason to keep working at it and I’m just about to finish my squat program (which has done me well I should be pleased) (More wah)

You know all of T-Nation is a fan of WHATEVER it is you’re doing.
I mean your physique is RIDIC. Ri-Fuckin-DIC!
Still, I get what you’re saying… you’re ready for the next! Its good… thats an awesome trait to possess. I had no idea crossfit was so pricey! Still if they do correct form training on the Olys it might be worth a couple of months investment?
Yeah, I just looked at Provo Crossfit- I wanted to get in a place with bumper plates.
They don’t offer memberships, only classes for the “WOD.” Or you can pay 200$ to get evaluated in the oly lifts for an hour.
Luckily I found another guy who is getting a home gym set up and is fine with me lifting with him. Thank you EFS Q&A. Otherwise, I’m lifting at the BYU gym. Fun times.

Thanks Hallowed Hopefully the powerlifter guy finds something. If not than I might consider joining his gym and just going there to workout every once in a while when I’d like some company and spotting.
Lifting gives such a high at times and when it fizzles a bit it’s so noticeable!
Not time to quit Bass. Time to take a step back maybe. I’ve just had essentially 2 weeks off and I know that I have to lower the weights a bit and see where my strength is sitting. I hope the knee doesn’t turn into something serious.

So ah… We just got a 6 piece sectional for 1,200.
I’m pretty excited. No more sharing a couch less than 6’ with my wife.
And your dog, don’t forget him. I’m sure your wife had half and he had half, which left you with…a cushion? The floor?
Nah, our dog is very “pack conscious” I guess you could say. He is very attuned to the pecking order and the general mood of the house.
So he isn’t allowed on the furniture, only the dominant members of the family are. He gets on at night and while we are at work, but knows to get his ass off it while we are home and awake.
It really is funny how much little things like that matter to a dog. He is happier being put in his place on his bed on the floor.

He’s so cute. I’m glad you got his behavioral issues taken care of. I know you were concerned at the beginning.

I couldn’t help it, I’m tired and in a humourous mood.
I’m sure you and the wife are happy with the dog, so many of my friends are unhappy with their dogs or animals, but yet won’t even get off the couch when they try to sit down.

well it was work with him, and us, or give him back which means he’d be put down.
I couldn’t have gone the rest of my life knowing I was the reason such an intelligent creature was put to death.
It really was a simple as taking charge over him, giving him rules, boundaries and discipline. But also changing ourselves too. We can’t be moody douches or sad sallys. We have to be even and upbeat.
I really feel like he saved me (well us) as much as we saved him. My wife picked the perfect dog for us.
