My best bench was 225x12 about a month ago, but I stopped benching for a bit basically because I got bored and wanted to try other lifts for my chest (HS flat ftw) so it’s probably gone down. I’m planning on working the barbell pretty hard this summer though since I don’t have any cool machines to work with in my home town.
As far as db’s, I recently did 90x8 with 3 second negatives and high elbows, not sure what I can do if I got back to my normal tempo/form though. Maybe I’ll try that next week just for fun.[/quote]

I was pretty much the same until I started BBB and was forced to do 3x15 and other high ranges on the bench. The volume and frequency of that program seemed to really condition me to the movement. idk

Well, maybe not a complete beginner, but if they had done 5x5 for a few months and were ready to gain some serious weight then yeah. If you look at the BBB thread you’ll notice a bunch of skinny guys that have been demolished by the volume and up and quit because they weren’t recovering (read eating). Then you’ll have the more advanced guys that are just moving too much weight to recover from the volume even though they’re doing things right. So the only people who make gains on the program are determined newbs/novices that aren’t moving that much weight yet and therefore can benifite from the added volume+frequency.
So I’m on the fence about it, though it taught me a valuable lesson about the value of higher reps in training and allowed me to get a lot of practice on some exercises like the BB bench.

Those tend to be ripped out, not hacked off… sometimes, if you’re lucky, you find most of the pieces and can somewhat put it back together again. A little like humpty-dumpty.
