The neighbor behind us said something was going on and I ran over to see my dog biting and shaking a small cat. I grabbed my dog and threw him over to the front yard and I picked up the cat. It was barely breathing. I was freaking out and asked my dad to see if its dead. My mom and dad were pretty apathetic to the situation but I was crushed. I put the kitty in a cardboard box and put it in front of my garage. I was periodically checking up on it but knew it was dead when its eyes were still open,its body was completely still,and shit started coming out of its back end. I’ve never been so mad at my dog. Not even when he tore up some of my shoes or pissed on my clothes. I smacked him across the head and hit his bottom. Anyway,Hes not getting food tonight and I just dug a small grave for the kitty.

I almost wrote “its not your fault” because really its not your dog just did something heinous you tried to stop him but it was too late. I know nothing about training dogs so I don’t know if there’s anything more that can be done. It was just bad luck the cat came in your yard. Its not your fault

It isn’t a human, it doesn’t understand why you are mad after 15 or 20 mins. You’ll only confuse it by refusing it food.

my dog eats bunnies and baby bunnies every year when the mothers have them in my backyard. I have a fence, bunnies die all the time in this yard. Do i feel bad yes, am i mad at the dog, no. she does what she knows to do.

Why didn’t you drive the cat to the nearest vet office? Why let it suffer like that? I’m more upset at your inaction than your dog doing what dogs do.

That kitty was dead by the time I picked it up. Im pretty sure my dog snapped its neck and there couldnt have been anything anybody could have done. Its a shitty situation and I did what I thought was best at the time. There was alot of “should’ve” and “could’ve”. I SHOULD’VE taken the cat to the vet,I SHOULD’NT punish my dog,I COULD’VE left my dog in the house…but that cat is buried near a shed now. Ill do better,if unfortunately,this happens again.
