I also think peer pressure is a great tool for this. If someone isn’t paying attention, and you find a way to subtly punish the whole class, everyone starts to pay attention. The quietly waiting for an answer thing is unbearable for most peers.

SO it turns out I’m some sort of crazy genius when I haven’t slept. Today in math class we were learning about the Newton method for determining roots, and everything just clicked. I even got the difficult problems, which is weird because I never get them. Also in the math lab I was helping everyone do homework.
If only it transferred to chemistry. I didn’t sleep last night because I stayed up until 3 am reading chem, then spent an hour doing calculus, then an hour reading for world religions, then an hour for geology, cooked breakfast and showered (breakfast was a whole thing of sausage cooked over bacon, then a couple eggs cracked on top with cheese that spent some time in the oven on broil to cook the eggs on top and melt the cheese) and then drove my girlfriend to work.
I feel like I haven’t stopped since then- today has been very productive.
