Speaking of “TNation” physique standards. I saw an old acquaintence at the gym last night… Dude was interrupting me during my Glute Ham Raise (fucking love this thing) session. I must be the only person in the entire gym who uses it or at least uses is correctly. Cracks me up.
We get to talking and he says that the scale freaks him out because he was around 200 lbs. The guy is maybe 1.5 inches taller than me a slightly more filled out in the upper body. Legs are TOOTHPICKS. I ask him what he does and he says he lifts three days a week…Chest, Back, Abs on one day…Back and tris on another…then shoulders on another, or something like that.
I ask, “Dude, what about your legs? And who cares what the scale says? It’s about how you look. You’re not a teenage girl. Dont’ worry about the numbers.”
He says, “Nah, I’m not about that. I run. That’s enough for me. I dont’ want to be one of those GORILLAS.” Ok, brah, you will balloon overnight, huh?
I should’ve asked him if he just wanted to get “toned.” What the fuck is wrong with people?
There are maybe two impressive guys at my gym. Maybe, and I mean that from both a strength/physique perspective. I see people doing the stupidest shit on something like the BB flat bench, like holding onto the bar and doing this rapid leg raises and “scissors”…for multiple SETS.
Fuck.
