How was training Grny? How long are your training shifts? How long will your work shifts be?

Training is 5 hours a day, 4 days a week. Work shifts are 8 hours, but they go like this: work 1 hr, break 20 mins, work 1 hour, break 20 mins. So you end up only actually “working” 6 hours, but get paid for 8. The shifts are: Day: Noon - 8pm, Evening: 8pm - 4 am, Graveyard: 4am - Noon. Now, when I was interviewed I said I wanted evening shift…not knowing what the shifts were. So…now I need to talk to HR to change my shift preferences.
Ah shit.

Those hours are even stranger than my departments.
LOL…I just think they’re named wrong…

Those hours look PERFECT for a smoker. In fact shifts like that might drive me to smoke.

LOL…considering I just came from a place where we nonsmokers were being forced to take our optional 15 minute breaks because ONE person got pissed at the smokers taking breaks and she came from Cali where I guess 15 minute breaks are mandatory, it will be interesting.

**In IL you are mandated a 30 min. unpaid lunch and 2 optional 15 minute paid breaks. This chick, from Cali, if she didn’t get her 15 minute breaks, would tack them on to her lunch break and take either a 45 min or 60 min lunch. You can’t do that in the hotel business. You screw people over. To make her happy, all of us had to start taking our optional 15 minute breaks. It sucked.

We watched a video about tha smokin in a sociology class. They had done a study on who is more likely to smoke…

I was in like 4 of the 5 categories of likely lifetime smokers…

Feels bad man.

O wow man that chick lied to somebody! We have mandated ONE TEN MINUTE Break per every four hours worked and ONE SINGLE HALF HOUR LUNCH for every six hours worked which for an eight hour work day translates to TWO TEN MINUTE BREAKS and a SINGLE HALF HOUR LUNCH (unpaid of course they can make you clock out for your ten minute breaks if they want)

I would think you might be a smoker if you didn’t lift.

Ahhh, I see. It’s still stupid to force us to take “optional” breaks just because one person from a different state, with different rules, has a hissy fit. She should be made to follow OUR rules. It really pissed people off. If she wants to take her optional breaks because she’s used to taking them, it doesn’t mean the rest of us have to.

Used to also… And will when drunk

To be fair, isn’t much I won’t do while drunk

Yneerg the training sounds great, the shifts sound awful. I hope you get that straightened out!

haha, well me and my brother will live there next semester and spring term, then he goes on a mission so he’ll be home preparing, meanwhile right after spring term she and I will get married and live there, but only after my ensuing internship and when I go back to school in the fall.

All of which is vastly superior to renting an apartment.
Thumbs up.
