What?
Dammit, I thought I’d changed it to the right to HUNT…must not have worked.
Arizona has a right to hunt on the Ballot. The thing is that, for several years now groups have been coming close to getting a ticket on the ballot to stop hunting, except they seem to forget what happened in Arizona when we didn’t allow anyone to hunt anymore…basically the deer population boomed and then eventually starved itself. It took a chunk of time just killing sick deer until some of the deer could get healthy.
I’m okay with hunting to keep populations constant as long as the animal is used, not just discarded. I don’t understand hunting for hunting’s sake though. “Let’s go shoot some animals!” is not a statement I understand.
Concurring animals…I’m not sure. I get excited to hunt like no other, I’m a spaz the morning when we head out to go hunt. But, I use everything, except for the pelt.

No offense, MiM, but I would totally back that statement if it were 1810, not 2010. I wonder why deer were never domesticated, like cows? Were they “too cute”? Venison is supposed to be pretty good for you, right? And it’s considered red meat, right? We have several kinds of white meat, why only one kind of red meat? You can tan deer hides, just like cow hides.
OMG…it’s amazing what your brain can think of if you don’t have a job for an extended period of time…shakes head
We have tried to domesticate deer, didn’t work out to well. Tried with with elk and caribou and it worked out better, but the meat quality is horrible. The deer really are sneaky and would make it very difficult to contain them.
You can contain a cow in a 2.5 foot high hot wire, the deer walk though that stuff like it is not there.

Ah, I did not know that. Thank you. So it makes sense to keep them wild, both because the meat quality would go down and it’s too much hassle to keep them on a ranch/farm/field.

Mostly, yes.
Well played Inky, well played. But let the record show that you’r 30% for an MM(F?) with me.
Well, he doesn’t really go hunting to feed us…(fail at being funny?) I dunno…he grew up hunting, it’s just his thing. He uses his bow when in season as well. I think it’s pretty cool. I’ve gone with him a couple times…

Yes, cows on the other hand are easier to handle because they are slower, fatter, bigger and can’t jump fences like deer. Otherwise I’d buy myself a deer because I like me meat. I want to go to Kansas to go hunt deer soon, they are over populated, I think you can get several during season.

You say that like it’s a bad thing. Donde esta your self-confidence, pimp daddy?
If so many of these guys weren’t killed in the US, then the deer population wouldn’t be as insane as it is.
There’s so many around this area, that every person in my department has hit at least one deer since they’ve worked here… except me. Although, i’ve come close so many times…
