Eugenics in Europe

If murdered fetuses go to heaven it has to be a good thing, no?

Lets wait till they can test for homosexuality and see what the left thinks of the new ā€œcureā€ for gay-ness.

This is ridiculous. Not only does such require knowing God’s decisions, but it would make permissible murdering anyone destined for heaven. Murder is prohibited.

That would go against religious wackos thinking that being gay is a choice and something that can be ā€œcuredā€ by therapy and prayer.

Though I do see the point you are making DD

If a loved one of yours was in an accident and the doctors said they would never recover and remain in a vegetative State forever would you pull the plug after ten years? 20? Ever?

Honestly curious

It’s ridiculous because it assumes that God actually exists.

Regardless, murder is and always has been a matter of perception.

What if they want a gay kid? That can go both ways.

There is still epigenetics. Regardless, if the gay community is correct, selective abortion for gay-ness could be a real thing very soon.

Sure. I’d just like to see who stays ideologically consistent. I bet not many would be.

Hard to figure this heaven stuff out. If my kids in the nicu right off the bat and I dump water on him does he get in or not. How much water counts?

Important questions to answer. Gotta get those babies in!

I’m just confused though. The wackos who aren’t anti-gay…typically die hard pro lifers. Now once they have evidence to believe their unborn kid may be gay they are going to be for abortion?

Doesn’t seem very consistent. I realize all these are weird hypotheticals though so who knows

They are already doing gender based abortion in China. ā€œA girl fetus, we wanted a son, abort.ā€

War on women much?

Thats the problem with bundling thinking like its a cable package.

It doesn’t leave much room for the ethical conundrums or nuances of life.

I suspect this is somewhat related to supply and demand, with the high abortion numbers in the country I doubt the demand could last if they suddenly all switched to adoption. This is especially true for conditions like down syndrome which is the topic of discussion here. Most people willing to adopt would prefer no per-existing conditions.

Well first I would consult there living will, but if the decision was left to me I would take them off support as soon as it was determined there was no chance for recovery.

The individual in the vegetative state has zero prospects for a future of value. The same can not be said for the fetus, even the one with downs.

But babies can be born in similar states to vegetative ones and future value is subjective. You are saying circumstances exist where you would be ok with ā€œmurderā€ but are appalled if someone comes to what you think is not a valid circumstance? What about extreme pain by a baby and a life of that pain? Etc

Keeping in mind that I don’t believe abortion is murder and think the terminology gets messy when using that phrase. I don’t think the scenario I said is murder either

Indeed. And those nuances are precisely why abortion should be legal. I know I have shared this story but I have a friend who’s wife has her tubes tied and has been on birth control since she was old enough to be sexually active. She has a skin condition and the expansion of a pregnancy could kill her. I have no idea how some people could think if she became pregnant and doctors aborted that child to save her life that she is a murderer.

Pro life with no exceptions is the very definition of not allowing nuances and the gray areas of life. Leaving out all the obvious things like legalized abortion is way better than back alleys or coat hangers.

It’s like the same people who say ā€œyou make guns illegal people will still use them and make themā€ have no problem thinking you make abortion illegal it ends the issue. I’ve beat this topic up to death on this forum though

Okay, granted, somewhat. I think it’s more the way some of these countries have applauded their efforts to ā€œendingā€ Downs where I draw the correlation to eugenics. Like they have somehow found the final solution. (You see what I did there?)

It’s hard to say. Technology will grow. We’ll continue to expand our ability to see possible medical problems before birth.

That was my first thought. Cuba has long had mandatory abortions for any ā€œirregularā€ or problematic pregnancies. Commies keeping health care costs down.

And potentially change/fix. Crispr gene editing technology is coming along very quickly.
