Orion, you’ve really never heard of mononucleosis?
Have you ever heard of Pfeiffer-Druesenfieber?
Different countries, different names.
I have heard of it!
Did not know what it was and now I do not want to get it.
Yeah, I’ve had it twice. Technically, once you get it, it never leaves your body but usually people infected with the epstein-barr virus build up antibodies quickly that keep it4 dormant. However, roughly 1 in 1000 people who contract the disease don’t build up enough anti bodies and actually can get it more than once. I’ve had it at least twice and that puts me at risk of getting something called chronic mononucleosis.
I’m going to hope that doesn’t happen.
Well, had my follow up today: white blood cell count is normal so it doesn’t look like cancer, but my antibody level for the mono virus is off the charts. Looks like it’s mono.
Good about no cancer. Will hope the mono runs its course and then leaves you be.
Hockey has been out of town and comes home tonight. Layers of yay there, because over the weekend he did something meant to improve our water pressure, which it did, but it’s also somehow freed insane amounts of sediment, which is clogging all the faucets and shower heads. He’s planning to fix it tomorrow, but meanwhile the shower head has to be unscrewed and clonked around mid-shower to clear the holes. The sinks are without their screens at this point, so spraying everywhere. Good times. What fills me with wonder, though, is that we’re laughing about it. No tension. And my adoration goes up one more little notch because of that.

Happy for you.
I’ve found that the whole ‘compatibility’ aspect can be fairly stark. My long-term relationship at the end of undergrad included maybe three dustups in 5+ years. On the other hand, I can recall two relationships where there’d be at least three frictions in an average week.
And I do feel for the people whose norm is closer to the latter.

So do I, now that I realize there can be something different!

As one who has busted up a concrete patio and walkway (about 800 square feet total) with a sledgehammer, a shovel, a rake and a wheelbarrow, I feel I must concur.

A backhoe is next on the list. He’s been improving 150 acres with a large excavator (probably classified as small-midsized commercial) and dump truck, so picks up and moves a lot of rocks already. He says that’s too big for the work we need to do at the house.
He loves rocks, though. The excavator can only put them loosely in place - he has to fine tune the grading and wall-building and water-diversion and such, which he likes doing. What he seems to see happening is that I’ll learn to run the machines so he can be on the ground doing the physical stuff. Which, lol, we’ll see.

I had some fun at my sister’s house. I feel like my tractor’s broke in now.

What happened? I understood these to be good at rolling along on grass? LOL and WTF?
Ours hasn’t come out to play yet. We need the backhoe attachment really, really badly as I understand it. We’re looking for one, though! So hopefully any minute now.
So we’re at what, five months now of living together? I love it. He’s the perfect blend of work and play, good behavior and bad, salty and sweet.
We’ve had a couple of bumpy spots now, but they’ve been positive in outcome rather than damaging.
We’re gearing up for the renovation, so I guess if there are going to be cracks they’ll show up then. I think the bump-out of the back of the house is slated for August, with septic replacement and house rewiring and etc. to happen before that.
As long as you over budget costs, expect inevitable delays, and keep laughing, you’ll both be fine. As the 8th generation to live in my house I have ample renovation experience even though I’ve only lived in it 32 years. Heavy doses of laughter do work.
