Not anymore…
Direct action. Starbucks workers are unionizing by the day. This will most likely spread to other areas. All w/o the “help” of those criminal politicians.
And when the tax cuts expire?
tariffs on goods being paid by American consumers are basically equal to the amount of the tax cuts in the 2017 legislation.
How ironic?
Not sure if serious. What are Starbucks workers going to do? Make some lattes?
How exactly does this help combat the 2 party system…
Don’t worry I am sure we will all be paying more taxes and higher tariffs soon on top of the inflation.
They will make more money and have more power, instead of being exploited by their employers. All w/o those criminals and do-nothings in Congress. Direct action. Not waiting around for those criminals to do something for them. Taking matters in their own hands.
All part of the Trump economic package. While these costs are passed through to the consumer. How brilliant!
Maybe, but I don’t put Starbuck’s workers high on my list of people able to affect change. Starbuck’s already has awesome benefits for even half time workers. My wife put herself through college because they pay 100% for ASU online if you work 20hrs/week. That’s a hell of a benefit and the only reason one should consider employment at Starbucks.Yeah, the hourly pay was shit, but they paid out ~20K per year in benefits.
Id this their policy for ALL stores?
Well apparently those who actually work there do not feel the same way.
Yes, nationwide policy
Education: Starbucks Coffee Company
I believe that most of these people have never worked anywhere else. My wife considered taking a management job post graduation simply because their health plans are the best I have ever seen offered.
Not as good as single-payer.
Since this is not the reality we live in (and won’t be until federal gov changes), the game has to be played if you want affordable healthcare.
I have seen some people that are considering early retirement (I guess partial retirement), try to get into Starbucks half time for the health benefits.
If you don’t need the actual income all that much, the health insurance is worth quite a lot.
Unionization at Starbucks is one of the more puzzling companies I’ve seen it at. For their industry it seems they treat their employees fairly well.
With my income as an engineer, if the only thing working at Starbucks paid for was that health insurance plan (so net zero), my family would still come out thousand’s ahead by getting off my ridiculously priced plan.
My plan isn’t bad if it is just me, but putting a spouse on is ridiculous. It isn’t bad if the spouse can’t get their own insurance, but if they have access then it is more.
Again, apparently the people who actually work there don’t think so.
And if we had a single-payer system like the vasr majority of developed nations this would be a moot point.
Human nature to want more I think. Not everybody, but a lot of people are never satisfied with what they have.
I am for a single payer system.
Sounds like you’re describing Howard Schultz.
Glad to hear it.
I think almost everyone TBH. Some depressed people may be an exception here. Some “normal” ones don’t want more as well (minimalism movement comes to mind). But most people I’ve encountered have plans for job advancement, a bigger house, nicer cars, etc…
And this is mostly hampered by corporations. The last things they want is competition and paying their employees more.
