This is going to be one of the really fascinating questions in the aftermath (whether Trump wins or loses). Trump broke pretty much every conventional rule, not just with a potty mouth and generally brash personality but all sorts of other stuff that was supposed to be a dealbreaker: supposed lack of ground game, totally disorganized campaign, terrible debate performances. So the question is, was he a complete fucking idiot that managed to stumble his way to the Presidency through brand recognition and convincing enough people that he could actually Make America Great Again? Or is he a genius for figuring out the right buttons to push with the right parts of the electorate, and grabbing states where HRC was weak?
Another fascinating angle to consider in the aftermath is that it appears we are headed for a popular vote - EC split. Something thatās been floated recently is the interesting fact that HRC could run up the score in the popular vote in blue states, but that Trump was gaining ground in a lot of battleground states and turning a bunch of them light red, he could lose the popular vote by a point or two but win the EC. And thatās where it looks like weāre heading.
Itās hopefully a sign of a shift to political parties that are more responsive to voters and possibly an end to the rise of class in the U.S. There are a number of issues that are used as platforms in every election that are either decided issues (abortion is protected by SCOTUS precedent) or where the parties are so divided that no progress occurs and everyone loses (immigration, crime, education). To explain what I mean by everyone loses, look at immigration. We have poorly controlled borders so illegals pour in but they create an easily cowered class that works for shitty wages and have a hard time educating their children. This drives down working class wages. We would be far better off by controlling or borders but allowing more legal entries. Itās not happened because the democrats win by using it as a wedge issue and companies get cheap labor.
It was a screenshot on Fox News. Lot of smiles at Trump HQ. I live about 10 minutes from Trumpās star on the Hollywood walk of fame, Iām tempted to drive over there and see the butt hurt.
