Eddie Vedder Anti-War

Just as I was still nodding in agreement that it is stupid for celebtraties to use their status to promote their respective personal causes because they are in essence shooting themselves in the foot I read this today in the NY Times

Excerpt from NY Times article by Frank Rich, talking about Michael Moore’s acedemy award statement:
But he is not only unrepentant about calling Mr. Bush a fictitious
president, he is busy toting up his subsequent good fortune. Box office for
“Bowling for Columbine,” already the longest-running commercial movie in
current release and the highest-grossing documentary in history, was up by more than 100 percent on the Monday after Oscar night. His book “Stupid White Men,” already the largest nonfiction best seller of 2002, is reclaiming the No. 1 slot on the Times best-seller list today.
I guess it is okay to take a side if you stand to benefit from doing so.

Anderson - Good points. If the situation that you described were real, I would actually choose to shop at another store. The difference to me is that SO many celebrities have strange viewpoints on politics and religion (Scientology), that I just can’t take the time to research who I’m going to listen to on the radio or watch when I go see a movie. That pretty much takes the fun out of the activity in the first place. Although I do not know this from first hand experience, celebrities seem to be completely out of touch with the lives of regular people and they consistently surround themselves with yesmen/women. So I do not take their views seriously at all. Hopefully when I see Pearl Jam this summer, Eddie will not take up too much stage time with his political views. Although if he does, I’ll just use that time to hit the head, and get a beer.

Looking back at my post, I considered taking out the part about Scientology, but let me just explain that I was thinking of it after watching Lisa Marie Pressley’s new video. I might convert to that religion to marry her though. She’s got to be one of the richest women in America. Not to mention the fact that she’s hot, and she said she’s a 3 input woman on the Stern show the other day. Woooooooooohooooooooo!

Who’s Eddie Vedder?

He used to be a rock star.
