Capitalism has hurt a lot of people. Try the hollowing out of the middle class so those who have more than enough can have even more. All the while destroying families. Sounds awesome!
And a “healthcare” system that makes money from making people suffer. Shareholder profits take precedents above all else. If more money can be made by limiting options, causing people to suffer not allowing them the choice in treatment then so be it. Our healthcare system is primarily designed for profits not helping people.
What significant gains has capitalism brought to the middle class recently?
So people ought to stop using healthcare? And you call me a dumbass. Sheeeessshhh…so just accept that you don’t have the choice in treatments, so that healthcare can keep up with it’s profits to the shareholders. Isn’t that the function of a “healthcare” system? Profits first, not health.
I think what you mean is, what new opportunities exist, because of capitalism, for the middle class to take advantage of, recently? I know in Marx’s utopia you are magically brought things, but that’s not how reality has ever worked.
As far as new opportunities via capitalism:
Web3 / Cryptocurrencies - people became millionaires selling shitcoins… / NFTs - again, people became millionaires selling fucking pixel art
e-commerce / Amazon FBA / Dropshipping: You can literally write a book and sell it on Amazon at ZERO cost to you.
Social Media - advertising #2 / influencers / Bloggers - people make millions playing video games for fuck sake…
How about cheap Google certification courses 100% online through Coursera, and Udemy? Potentially leading to jobs in data analytics, programming, UX/UI Design, etc…
Gig economy - Uber / Lift / Fivrr / etc… If you have a skill or the ability to provide a service you can make money. My man, you can download Unity or Unreal Engine, watch some YouTube videos and, with some effort, build a video game and sell it. All for FREE. Unity/Unreal don’t take a cut until you make like $100k in sales.
Remote work
Not to mention old opportunities like becoming an accountant: It’s not that difficult and you’re middle class on day 1. Mid-career accountants make $100k+ easily.
There’s so much opportunity in America it’s hard to fathom.
For lower-income and middle-income households, their 2016 income levels were comparable to 1989 levels.
With the public being constantly bombarded by advertisements(TV and magazines) about the wonder of drugs. What do most people think? This is the way to go. Capitalist propaganda has it’s victims, just like it was meant to be. Make money no matter the consequences.
And, for example, what f you wanted FMT as treatment? Can’t do it as the FDA protects markets for the pharma oligarchs. They wouldn’t want any of that free-market pesky competition getting in the way of their profits.
The different modalities you’ve mentioned DO NOT represent a financial threat to profits, so they are left alone. If a treatment can get in the way of gobs of profit, then their lackeys in the FDA will dream up an excuse to keep it illegal so the gravy train just keeps humming along.
Make as much money as you can w/o regard to consequence?
Your the one making this claim that the number is astronomically high therefore you need to provide evidence.
I made a counterclaim and provided evidence.
How many people? Does this make up for the fact of the countless jobs sent to other countries?
The “gig” economy is just testimony of how the middle class is being destroyed. The lengths that one has to go to, to try and survive. When I was younger, only my father had to work. We were very middle class. A house, 2 used cars and occasionally went on vacation. Gigs were not needed to live.
Possibly.
You mean remote work, doing a job you already have?
