Dropped Barbell on My Quad

I tried to do a split clean missed it and ended with 80kg on my quad.
My leg feels quite bad now. Anyone ever done the same thing. My leg is still sort of deadish throbbing a couple of hours later.

On the positive side I managed do a few power cleans with 80kg and 82.5kg. The clean position is getting a little easier. My shoulders get really tight after I catch the bar. I tried moving the grip in a bit and doing lots of lots arm circles and sideway shoulder rotation . Still couldn’t use the grip to front squat it.

I got some videos but it was off a security camera and I gave up on editing it.
I’ll try use a mobile phone soon.

85 kg felt impossible .

So why is it you were doing split cleans? That seems like the most ass backwards lift ever.

Did your coach actually Rx Split clean? I would never do that again if i were you. Unless you have some legit reason you can let me know about.

Ouch that has to hurt. I’ve come close a couple times (or so says my coach) when I dropped a jerk in front… but I feel I knew where the barbell was all the way. Anyways… agreed with Avocado, stop doing split cleans and split snatches (if you do them). They are pointless nowadays.

Split cleans? But . . . why . . . no . . . sense . . . does . . . not . . . compute . . .

Is the bar OK?

i’ve dropped 115kg on my quads before, it was a the end of the work out and i was to stubborn to stop, i was rock bottom and my hand slipped and the bar came crashing down, it hurts lk hell but it gives u a reason not to do it again

The bar is OK. I don’t have a coach and don’t plan on competing or anything.

It hurt like fun yesterday all over the quad , going up and down stairs. It is only bruised on the point where the bar hit. The bruise starting to come out a tiny bit. I very rarely ever bruise too more than a little.

I won’t be doing split cleans again. Fortunately the weight was not that heavy and my legs are quite big.

I missed a 140kg clean and it rolled down myi leg after crushing me on the receive position. My left quad near the knee was bruised for a bit. But luckily it doesn’t sound as bad as yours. mine was a ‘glancing’ blow/ slide down the leg…

There are legit reasons to split clean. I would get some runners to do it, they jerk with alternate feet going forwards, which is pretty much unheard of for an Olifter, but we don’t need to run :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll see how much I can split Snatch later for fun
