Dodgy Test Levels, Thyroid Readings and General Well Being

@flash74 @Graemsay

My thyroid levels seem to have corrected themselves naturally through lifestyle variations and natural supplements.

I was asking about the doctor from your experiences in regards to TRT, your experiences with him, the effectiveness of his treatments etc?

For some reason I feel like he may be just happy to dish TRT out to anyone who walks in front of him that asks for it but like I said in the last post, this might be a misinterpretation on my part.

The other side of the argument is what have I got to lose by trying it………

@tshtruth If he was just dishing it out the medical board would suspend him ASAP. Another doctor I see was suspended for far less and the GP I see to get T blood tests wont do it anymore because he is worried about the medical board. I think Dr Z is pretty good, my T levesl were 8, and had been that way for a while. So I think unless its quite low he wont give you any T. I started seeing a integrative medicine doctor, he was much more thorough, poo test urine etc, and found I had issues with diary and some other issues. Maybe if I fixed those way back it may have helped my T levels. So I would say get your health optimal. I don’t drink anymore, eat mainly salad veges and organic meat, lost 12 kg, I’, 5’9 and 68 kgs. I’ve been feeling shit on and off for 4 years.

So did you feel any better from what Dr Zentner prescribed and was it a process of fine tuning or just a prescribe and forget?

I have been seeing an integrative doctor for the past two or so years.
Done similar to you, stool tests, B12, Vit D, gluten etc etc and she put me on various supplements that improves digestions and enzymes in the stomach etc to allow my body to absorb nutrition better.

Stool sample showed up various things that meant I wasn’t digesting my food properly so not absorbing the vitamins and minerals that I should be even though diet was good. Improve sleep. Reduce alcohol. Reduce stress as much as possible. Exercise but not in the extreme that it weakens your immune system which is already potentially weak.

So those things has seen my thyroid readings reverse drastically as per above. I was initially told I would need to start taking Thyroxine for life by a GP and I told them I don’t want it. This is why I’m curious if my T can be reversed in a similar fashion without introduction of exogenous T.

@tshtruth Due to the cost I’ve only seen Dr Z twice face to face and couple phone consults, I have to fly to see him. Not sure about others but I have to check my T at least every 3 months now. It was every 6-8 weeks at the start to get things right. There has been cases when its dropped right off on the same dose then I lost a heap of weight and my T was back up to 38 on a trough day(inject twice a week). My Oestradial dropped right off too recently, so I think I’m at a stage now where I may not need any aromatase inhibitor. Also supply of primoteston has been crap, been on sustanon, and just about to move to compounded chemist. So you need to fint tune with all new meds. My thyroid appears OK but I can’t control my RT3.

why did u stop trt?

So its sounds like your T levels are all over the place still and that your symptoms haven’t improved?

No they have definitely improved. I just think I have more issues going on then low T.

I was having more issues that were not addressed, like low iron upon starting TRT, doctor didn’t say anything about it because I was in range, starting feeling fatigued after the first year on TRT and starting having life threatening symptoms, critical iron deficiency.

I am getting iron stores backup and healing my severe gut inflammation symptoms do to the iron deficiency. TRT seems to drive my iron down.

How exactly are you getting your iron stores back up? Iron supplement ?

Correct recently suffers from iron overload at only iron 118, ferritin 101 which is too high for me. My A1C and insulin levels increase, libido, ED and skin turned red and was clearly having problems with IBS, different than previously.

I feel better when iron was 80 and ferritin 80, after stopping iron for a week iron decreased to 111, but the ranges are different. Ferritin is now 80, but slight symptomatic still.

Iron glycinate is better absorbed than iron ferrous sulfate, iron ferrous sulfate is poorly absorbed and can cause GI issues and a host of other symptoms.

Iron glycinate 25mg = iron ferrous sulfate (325mg) and attains the same iron levels.

I will resume iron glycinate 15mg 3xtimes weekly when the time is right. I was going to cut the 325mg iron ferrous sulfate in half anyways, so it should be about the same which is why I will dose it 3xtimes weekly to offset since 15mg is not half of 25mg.

How old are you @systemlord?

@tshtruth what supplements for digestion was it HCL and pepsin?

I have been taking so much I can’t even remember it all. Vitamins and minerals and everything in between.

Specifically for digestion I have been making (organic) sauerkraut, take a tablepooon ten mins or so before meals activates stomach acid to aid digestion. Same with Bio Beet Kvass. You can feel your mouth watering more so it definitely has an effect.

A very simple one that you wouldn’t often think of, I was likely always rushing my meals, doctor said chewing is very important part of the digestion process, as well as allowing the saliva to start the process of breaking down the food in your mouth, take your time and chew well.

Various types of probiotics.

The other one I have been using for a while which has noticeable affects in energy is basica active. I was told to take it in morning and evening but find I don’t sleep well taking it in the evening so just take it in the morning when I remember it. I think this has some affect on the acid balance in the stomach.

Trying to Be healthy is bloody expensive.

And I was avoiding gluten as much as possible, which is a real pain in the ass to do.
