…if your sense of identity and entitlement depends on the culture you’ve been brought up in, then you’d be wise to defend that culture with your life. The idea that this does not have to be the case must be foreign to you, just like it must be foreign to religious folks who depend on their faith for the very same. But i submit to you that this notion of interdependent cultural identity does not equal freedom, but ties you to those who proclaim to be the authority on said culture…
