Doing some looking around and Croatia sounds like it might be a good direction to head, anyone ever been there?
I go there every couple months. Great in the summer for beaches and weather, although can be crowded. People are friendly, women are nice looking but can be aloof. Zagreb is nice city, but a little dull if you are not college age or don’t speak Hrvatski. Opatjia on the north Adriatic or some of the bigger islands are where the europeans gather for the all night party action, etc. I’m actually heading there this Sunday.
I’m off to Dubrovnik in August for part of hoeymoon, any good?
On a cruise or staying in city? Dubrovnik is a beautiful city, can get really crowded in August. Sometimes busloads of tourists moving aroung together. Water will be warm but if you want a beach you have to go out of town a little bit. Food is great, fresh seafood and italian. Activity there tends to be drinking coffee, although I’m sure some clubs pop up in the summer. Across the bay is the smaller town of Cavtat where you can dive some submerged roman(greek?) ruins. I think its one of the best towns in the mediterranean in terms of beauty and history. I don’y know anyone who has regretted visiting.
Yer, its good. A little bit touristy, but good. Make sure you get a cevapcici roll, and wash it down with a karlovacko.

Man, im so hungry.

Thanks for the info guys, no im staying in the city, rented an apartment there.

Im staying for 7 days after a 4 night stay in Rome. Really looking forward it.

I think when I’m done with my Master’s I’m gonna set up an auto-payment for my student loans and fall off the grid for a bit. Bum around for a while.

Probably won’t look too great on a resume, but if I get a full-time job right off the bat I can see myself falling into a rut, knocking up some broad and resenting my life, wife and kids 40 years down the road.

On the other hand, I might get hostiled. But at least then I won’t be nagged about soccer practice, emotional unavailability and unloading the dishwasher.

Pick your poison, amirite?

haha too soon? its been liek 5 years, not too soon just distasteful lol

Go to Utah.

When I was 19 I bought a plane ticket to Tokyo. Didn’t know anybody, anyone, was there for just over 3 weeks I think. Best thing I ever did…I think it’s harder to do that crazy shit as you get older though…not just responsibility wise, but psychologically something changes…You’ll enjoy it more the sooner you do it.

The footballing culture in your country is very sad. The media has sone well with the brain washing.

I spent two years in Central/South America. Didn’t have a real plan and sort of went where I felt like going at the time. It was great fun, and overall I have found that people like Americans (anyone that I met that had been to the states loved Americans).

Anyways, travelled by bus and stayed in hostels. It was great fun. I had no problem finding a job when I returned.

I don’t care what the media says; I don’t want to be responsible for driving 2.5 snot-nosed, dream-crushing, self-absorbed money pits to and from a large field just so they can kick an inflated ball around with pathetic coordination… all so I can be bitched at by obese, sexually frustrated soccer moms because I didn’t hand pick every goddamn seed out of the orange slices I spent the whole week carving because they were obviously priority #1 for my shitty life.

Not to mention that, at the end of all that shit, the score will only be 1-0, if I’m lucky.

Just curious if anyone out there has ever just bought a plane ticket to somewhere overseas and kind of dropped off the grid for a little while.!
Me. Is it worth it? I don’t know.
Outstanding insight. You should post more often.
I think that trying to create an experience or a story with choosen little bits of pure randomness is dishonest. Everyone want to convince themselves that what they are and do is really groovy. Some people go on forum for this. I don’t like it and I do want to do it.
