DHEA and Strength Gains

So the HCG definitely had a significant effect on your numbers. Do you feel much different though?

Do you mean dhea? Shbg is middle range at like 35. I don’t yet have results from dhea being added in to the protocol.

Sorry, I meant HCG, I corrected it.

Only in that testosterone becomes estrogen. I’ll look into the pathway, but it looks to me that it only yields estrogen through an androstenedione to test pathway. It could reduce natural production of dhea from cholesterol and might also raise cholesterol by reducing it from becoming dhea.

It has improved things a bit. I measured free testosterone twice before HCG. It was 14, and 10 previously, and 17.4 ng/dl after. So that is like 25 and 70 percent increases. My guess is on average it is between those values (around 45 percent increase).

I used to have terrible insomnia. That is much better. Honestly just that one symptom going mostly away would be worth it. Nocturnal and morning erections have increased noticibly too.

I don’t think many get quite as much out of HCG as testosterone, but it is an improvement.

Did you have low DHEA levels? Did you have low T? I know that most DHEA supplements are in 100 mg size which puzzles me because Charles Poliquin believed that 10 grams was a large dose and that 10 gram doses could basically enable people to get deeper into adrenal desensitization by allowing them to perform and feel better with progressively increasing cortisol levels.

I don’t think they were low for a guy my age or clinically low, but lower than they used to be.

It just piqued my curiosity while picking up protein and vit. D, sitting on the shelf at the big box store. They’re 50 mg. tablets. I haven’t seen any observable differences between 100 and 200 mg. though, so I’ll probably drop it back.

I’m not familiar with Poliquins thoughts on it or adrenal desensitization. I may have to look into that a bit.
