geez michelle…forgive me for having an opinion on something other than iron. May I suggest that if you think a particular thread will annoy you, dont read it.

Was he supposed to have led a countercoup on his behalf? He wasn’t crying over a man that was snatching away private buisness and sucking up to Castro and Saddam? A man that was praising marxist revolutionaries? Please. He caused his own problem not us. And why do you bring up past events into the discussion? (By the way, you seem to forget that there were many who wanted our help to stop Marxists from gaining control and keeping control.) Like that would be proof Bush (the present President) had conspired to have Chavez ousted. Oh, I forgot nothing terrible can happen without our evil country behind it. I know, the Mideast is our fault. Even if was the UN and the Brits who really pushed the recognition of Israel and Jordan. Yeah, it’s our fault the Arabs attacked Israel twice and then lost land (the occupied territories). It’s our fault the Israelis are killing those poor little terrorists. Everything that happens is our fault. If we do something, we’re called imperialist. Either propping up a ‘regime’ or tearing down the ‘rightful’ government (depends which side you ask). If we respect a government, somebody is going to say we’re propping up a regime. If we tear that same one down, we’re imperialists. If we do nothing, we’re nationalistic isolationists. “…but Americans have trained/ led coups in other countries, especially during the alignment movement during the Cold War.” Damn right, becuase communism has proven to be an oppressive and brutal form of governing. So sue us. We tried to help others fight communism, boohoo. You seem to forget the covert actions of the USSR in S.A. The funding, the weapons, and yes Nukes (Cuban Missile Crisis). You damn right we tried to offset this with our own help. Yes, some of those people took our help and did horrible things with it afterwards, but you forget the others who defended against communist insurgents with honor. Same thing with Afganistan, I’m still proud that Russia lost with our help. Although, I do hate it that a shitty regime arose later including members we aided against the USSR.
I guess only Fascism is worthy to fight. I guess it’s only okay to try to aid Europeans in their past struggles against fascism and communism. Call Castro I’m sure he agrees with you
