This one’s for you buddy, lord only knows why this isn’t bigger news: www.washingtonpost.com/ wp-dyn/articles/A46452-2002Sep20.html
(remove the spaces). Ever thought that all the accusations of absolutely treasonous fund-raising by Clinton-Gore were wrong? Hmmm… Here the Dems go again, quietly paying off the fines. Add this to the nearly hundred odd fund-raisers indicted for, among other things, selling military information to the Chinese in exchange for funds. Just one of many reasons that some of us loathed Bill Clinton and everything he stood for.
I think Patricia’s post said it better than I could. Please read that. To respond to your post however I would just like to point a few things out.
L&F, have we ever had a president that did *not* cheat on his wife? You would have to do some digging to find one. You call Bill immoral, yet the Bush clan has been in the news lately with certain memebers having scrapes with law. Generally speaking, politicians are all immoral to an extent. Republicans and Democrats.
Bill's accomplishments or lack thereof in office: I was not old enough to vote each time Bill was elected. So as far as what he did do in office, I don't really remember. Nor do I care. Perhaps I should take more notice. If it wasn't for September 11th and our possible attack of Iraq, I probably wouldn't pay too much attention anyway. I just don't have much interest in politics.
G.W. is not our savior and neither was his dad. Yet, most Republicans would have you to believe that. Bill served two terms so he must have done something right.
(How was my spelling?)
memebers??!?!?! Other than that, you earned a A. I suggest that you type members 500X as a penalty.
“memebers.”
Dustin, my young friend, I wish to encourage you to take a more active part in the world around you. It sounds as though you have an embryonic understanding of civics. I wish to help you mature.
First of all, Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, both Bushes, Harry Truman, Herbert Hoover, Wilson, Taft, Theodore Roosevelt, McKinnely, Harrison, Andrew Johnson, Garfield, U.S. Grant, Tyler, Abraham Lincoln, Buchanan, Franklin Pierce, Zachary Taylor, Martin Van Buren, Andrew Jackson, James Madison, James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, John Adams, and George Washington never cheated on their wives. They certainly never lied under oath.
Second, you cannot blame George W. Bush because his niece, in Florida, is a drug abuser. Clinton’s brother Roger was a cocaine addict. I didn’t blame billy boy for that.
Third, bill clinton’s two terms were a very painful period. Those of us who feel that world leaders should be held to a higher standard, were fearful of watching the television. His lack of morality, lying, and a myriad of domestic and foreign policy gaffes were incredibly difficult to endure. You say he must have done something right to have been elected to two terms. Well, he did manage to brainwash many voters with his slick rhetorical phrases. He was all “style” and no substance.
To the democrats on this thread, I re-issue my challenge. I want to discuss specific democratic “values” or past trangressions. Please wade in.
Damn, I saw the “memebers” after I hit the post button.
LightandFluffy, we've had plenty of presidents do immoral things while they were in office. No, I'm not going to tell the specific ones and the source to which I got the information from. I've taken some political science classes and I'm sure you have too, so you should know who I'm talking about.
I'll be the first to admit that Bill did some things he shouldn't have. I'm also not naive into thinking that he's the only president that has ever done anything wrong. How's that saying go? There's no such thing as an honest politician?
Per special request of Mr Fluffy
I’m not sure if you can draw a causal line between stupid, pathetic and whiny and bad.
If it’s a case of losers - as in a contest like an election - being pathetic then that makes republicans just as bad, and tree huggers and probably communists [if there are any left that is] for that matter.
What makes a person bad? Being used as a glove puppet for special interest groups? Well, then Dubbya’s a bad person.
What amuses me is the idea that democrats are a different species…hmmmmm
Thanks for joining the fray. However, you didn’t give me much to work with. To have some real fireworks, you need to state your position with authority. Something like, “If you believe in this…you are an idiot.” That gets the wheels turning.
Anyway, I’ll work with what you gave me.
What special interest groups does Dubya “belong to?” It seems to me, especially in light of our recent disaster in the White House, that Dubya is much more of an independent thinker. He has already followed through on most of his campaign pledges. For instance, increasing military spending. Also, he campaigned fervently against U.N. domination of our military forces. You see that he has informed the U.N. that they had either better join us, or we will go it alone. We are not the puppets of the U.N. or of the world community. We will act in our best interests when necessary. Another example, is his administration’s strong stand against Americans being tried under the U.N. war crimes tribunal. He rightly believes that Americans charged with international crimes would be subject to undue political influences when determining sentencing.
Please read my other posts on this forum. They give proof of the perfidy and hypocrisy of the democratic party.
Oh, comparing Republicans to communists and “tree huggers” is just silly.
If you use “however” to begin a sentence, you are an idiot.
