I met a ton of these guys in Japan, particularly in Okinawa.
Most of them were actually pretty nice guys, but I managed to deeply offend one while I was pissed drunk. They always have name tags with the title “Elder” on them…Elder Smith, Elder Anderson, etc. Anyway, I met this one guy called “Elder Storm”, and I commented that he had one of the most spectacular names I’ve ever heard.
I then went on to considerable length about how, with a name like that, he could be the patriarch of the Thundercats, or a character in “Highlander”, or a boss character in Mortal Kombat. I named off about 8 to 10 other possibilities as well.
He wasn’t amused.
