IMO, some modern day electronic music could be looked at as different form of classical music, in the way it is composed. Instead of instruments, which they do use sometimes, they have electronic synths(or whatever the proper term may be).

My 19 year old son creates some damn good electronic music, and he’s had 11 years classical piano training, and 5 years of jazz bass training.

His electronic music is starting to make waves in the genre.
