ID, one time I worked at a department store and I had to rip the covers off books one time so they could be returned to the publisher for refunds or something but all the books had to be destroyed. I felt pretty bad about it.
Some of them were Star Trek books at that! There was much gnashing of teeth and later I prayed to the Great Bird of the Galaxy for forgiveness.

These were all paperbacks.
To be honest they were mostly shit…like paperback versions of those yearly horoscopes, books about vitamins or Bigfoot and shit like that, Harlequin romances and Garfield or Family Circus collections.
