Sure there are. The difference 'twixt US and other politics (and I lived in Europe for 11 years) is that we do everything out in the open so we know everyone is an idiot. This is what we call transparency. Europeans, for instance, have all the same politics (including the agendas and histrionics) but they do it behind closed doors. The Japanese are even worse and it all looks like medieval court intrigue from what I saw, but publicly it must look dignified. As Bismarck said, people should never see either sausages or laws made.
