Russell Crowe also isn’t really like 50- he’s not all muscle, he’s kind of an average guy. He’s also got a pretty big frame, so that weight doesn’t go to his face like it does for some folks I think.
He gained a shit ton of weight for “Body of Lies” too… but it really didn’t look like it.
As far as slimming down, both Matt Damon and Tom Hanks have done it for movies… and neither of them ever really looked the same again. I don’t think I’d do it, even for a movie.
I do give 50 props for it though.
