I hear you. It all depends on what you want to see in the movie. More of what you have come to like? Eye candy? Credibility? Talent? (Insert personal preference here.)?
I find it quite funny that people wish to see music stars in movies. But it always surprises me that it’s the top-of-mind, musical-artist-hot-item that people want to see in movies.
I find it intriguing that talent should only come from that sector of the industry. It’s not like the waiting list in agencies doesn’t exist.
Sure, when a babe is good looking it is always fun to see more of her. And I understand execs cashing in on the momentum of a star.
The transition to ads is feasible and realistic. But to movies?
With the exception of Eminem*, I cannot recall seeing a musical star that made it big in a movie. Or did a credible job. Think of Britney Spears’ flops. J-Lo.
He probably did not need to act. He just relived what he went through. Credible.
The reverse is not better either. Lyndsay Lohan and Jennifer Love Hewitt are not what I call singers.
Let’s face it. Most artists won’t ever make it big outside of their strongest art.
Oh well, in the end I guess it’s promoters who want to push their artists in all directions until the whole gang jumps the shark.
Frank sinatra and the whole rat pack: sammy davis Jr, Dean artine etc.
I think they did some big things in film…I THINK.
Minnie driver, initially a singer (whilst not a huge star) has done well.
Billy bob thornton was in a band previous to stardom.
admitedly, there is a slight difference in those as opposed to manufactured/hip hoppers taking that step. some do it feeortlessly (the transition), and some it is forced.

You’re joking … right?
A flat-chested, pale-skinned, punk-riot-grrrrl, sk8er-style punk singer as Daisy Duke?
You left out hot, and talented. Bsides if Alicia Keyes can get a mention…

Alicia Keys would kick Avril’s ass…all while never missing a note on her piano.
I’ll go see this movie if Beyonce is in some Daisy Dukes and the plot revolves around her walking around picking up lost change for two hours with her ass to the camera. (cut to scene: one dime has rolled under the couch…the audience stiffens).
As far as actresses who might have pulled this off better than Mrs. Simpson aka “Is Chicken of The Sea really chicken…or tuna?”, Carmen Elektra may have been the best choice I have heard.

Actually, Jennifer started acting first. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard that after dancing that’s always what she wanted to do. The singing career was just a natural progression for her. And while most of her movies I haven’t cared to see (and for good reason from what I hear), there is ONE I have to mention because it is one of my favorite movies: Out of Sight. That was a great movie, and it was also critically very well received…
I forgot I had this picture. Monica Brant has probably been the fan-favorite and most well-recognized fitness competitor. I always liked Mandy Blank better, though.

Carmen Electra was on my top 5 all time hot chick list - so I gotta agree with you on that.
But Alicia Keyes kick Avril’s ass? Alicia lives in her little pop-world, and she does an admirable job. Avril is a rocker. And rocker chicks are naturally tougher than pop chicks because their genre is tougher than the boy-band market.
You saying that Alicia is tougher than Avril is like saying that the Backstreet Boys could take Nickleback - it just ain’t gonna happen.
Actually, in my opinion, Avril Lavigne is just as made up and fake as any other pop star. She is a product of marketing and what her record company wanted her to be. If you see pictures/recordings of her just a short time before she made it big she was a sweet lil’ pop singer. She adopted the “punk” (her music is NOT punk) image to sell records. Garbage.

I could give a shit about her image. Image is something that record execs do because they are no talent ass-clowns. “Image” is part of marketing every single artist out there. If you are on a label - you are an image whore, regardless of genre. Even ProfX’s Alicia is an image whore.
Which brings us back to Avril. She writes/performs her own stuff. That’s talent - punk image, or not.

Alicia writes and sings her own stuff too…and she has a rounder ass. That settles it. Ass always wins. Regardless of what you type after this…we know who’s got ass and who doesn’t.
Would I rather see Simpson or Beyonce in a thong? No doubt about it, the ass has it. Therefore, Simpson loses that battle.
You can’t overlook the ass factor. It commands all.

Different strokes, pal. You go for quantity, and I all about the quality. You like Wal-Mart ass, and I prefer Nieman-Marcus backsides.

That Avril Lavigne love you have isn’t speaking highly of Neiman Marcus then. From the looks of her ass, I was thinking you were more of a “Flea Market” kind of guy. Silly Canadians.
I question the FREE TESTOSTERONE curculating through the blood streams of those who actualy listen to Avril.Britney,Jessica,Alica ,And christina As this is music you pretend to like as men when trying to get laid But as straight men this should NOT be part of your PERSONAL play list maybe Buy the pin up or RUB ONE OUT to the album cover if your woman leaves it at your place But you should’nt be listening to this music for the shear pleasure of the music as men as it is only music a straight man tolerates when attempting to aquire a piece of ass And listening for any other reason suggests a severe TESTOSTERONE DEFICIENCY And is like a straight man attending the OPERA without doing so because a WOMAN is dragging him there !
Maybe T-Nation should have a thread describing what is acceptable music for a man with A HEALTHY HPTA to be listening to .

But the love you have for Alicia Keyes speaks VOLUMES for Wal Mart. And I do mean volume.
CC’s right - what in the hell ARE we talking about?
