Your uncle is one tough man!
I must be doing something wrong in my training this last month. Have now thrown my back out twice (due to a weakened state I am guessing) in a month.
Either I am training to heavy, not recovering enough, or a combo of both.
It’s frustrating that every time I get back to the gym and start pushing I hit this setback. Training strategy needs re-think
Could it be that the movements you’re doing don’t agree with your body?
I am beginning to think that’s part of it. Anything loading up my spine (squats, hack squats, heavy benching with DBs) may be contributing.
Also I don’t think I can get away not stretching post lifting anymore.
There’s no point in lifting a bunch of weight if I can’t walk…

I believe I remember you liking Black Stone Cherry. If you haven’t heard this yet, it’s awesome -

The world needs more music like this.
Ohhh yeah. I think I have a top fan badge on Facebook and Spotify so I got pinged the second they dropped this single. Chris is one of the better musicians alive right now (voice and guitar). My band is currently hammering out a cover of Rollin’ On - it’s a B-side track on their first album and might be one of my favorite songs ever.
I recently discovered the music video they did featuring Ron White, Lzzy Hale (and the rest of Halestorm) that was like a speed dating thing. Two of the best modern bands. Lzzy’s voice is absolutely incredible (not to mention her looks). BSC has made my gym playlist rotation now too.
Wait, what? Is it the one from the Rock Cruise?
It’s the music video for “Cheaper to Drink Alone”. Lzzy doesn’t sing in the video but she is featured. Along with the BSC members in drag…lol.

Edit: while running this program I will stick to workout order not necessarily the week due to hectic schedule. I don’t want to hold myself too accountable to a strict schedule. As long as I am getting to the gym 4x/week I will be happy.
Just caught up on a month or two of your log.
Funny how back/neck issues can be, we tend to throw em out picking up a pillow off the floor even though we deadlift just fine.
How you feeling?
Feeling better now. It feels a bit tight still so I will probably hold off on back/hack squats during the next leg day. No pain though and I don’t look crooked anymore.
I have noticed I have to be extra careful when I first get up in the morning (both times it went out was with 15 minutes of getting up).
I am back to not going to the gym. COVID cases are spiking like crazy in my county (it has literally made national news) and people at my gym are taking essentially zero precautions (no masks, crappy cleaning habits, etc…).
I feel like I am using this as an excuse not to go to they gym, but my family cannot afford for me to get sick (even though I am vaccinated, I am still “high risk”).
Back to yoga & BW exercises at home I guess…
Same where my parents are at
As if i expected anything better from FL…
In the end I have to make the long term decision…which means not going to the gym, agin.
Well it’s okay. Focus on something else indeed for a while like BW and cardio, and when you’ll come back to the gym, it will most likely be better than ever (after a time of adaptation of course )
I was thinking for a long time I wouldn’t move out of Florida ever, but lately the policies and people are driving me up the freakin’ wall.
