Cry At a Movie?

A Series of Unfortunate Events

At the end, where they read the letter from their dead parents. It was a class trip, lucky me there werent many people nearby, and it was just a tear in the eye and chocking up. Few years ago tho

The Green Mile, damn

Field of Dreams, for every boy who ever sat on the curb waiting for his dad to get home from work so they could play a little before it got dark.

Passion of the Christ, watching your best friend get his ass kicked for two hours.

Jesus Christ Superstar, the play. When Christ dies, he ascends from the cross upwards and out of sight. You could just hear the crowd gasp.It was a good play, Judas was played by the guy from Living Color (the band). He really stole the show.

Never cried but I get choked up with the following:

What a Wonderful Life: when George comes home upset starts walking up the stairs, grabs the wooden ball on the stairpost expecting it to be attached, thinks about throwing it at something, catches himself and then just puts it back. Also, when everyone stumps up the cash to keep the Savings & Loan in business at the end - heartwarming. The only bad thing about the film is how long it takes him to realise he’s been erased from history - “YOU WERE NEVER BORN”. How many times?

Watership Down: When the black rabbit comes for Hazel at the end.

Good Will Hunting: When Ben Aflick tells Matt Damon that he dreams of the day when he goes to give him a lift to work in the morning and Matt’s gone (because he has a job worthy of his genius).

Green Mile: “On the day of my judgement, when I stand before God, and He asks me why did I kill one of his true miracles, what am I gonna say? That it was my job? My job?”

Sixth Sense: The girl being poisoned by her step mother. Also, discovering Bruce is dead.

Gladiator: Would it have been asking too much for a Hollywood ending just this once? Rather than just letting Maximus die…

Groundhog Day: When the begger passes away in the hospital:
Nurse: Sometimes, people just die.
Phil: Not today

Rocky 2, when Adrianne’s in hospital and she asks him to do something for her as he leans over her.

“Win … win …”

Chokes me up every time! [/quote]

Yep - ditto.

How many adults are still affected by seeing this as a kid?

Should have been an 18 certificate (R rated in US) in my opinion.

Rudy at the end when he gets to play in the game, that always puts a lump in my throat.

8 seconds actually brought out a real tear.

When I was little I remember crying like a baby over the last episode of MAS*H, give me a break I was like 7.

Crash - the invisible cloak scene

the notebook, no homo.

Big Fish was bittersweet, Click almost got me the first time I saw it (even though it was terrible,) and although I didn’t cry, when Mufasa dies in the Lion King is the saddest shit evar.

BTW, I keep reading a lot of people saying the Passion of the Christ. Doesn’t the fact that Mel Gibson is a crazy bastard affect anyones view on his movies?!

How about when Henry Blake died. Completely unexpected. It was the first time I ever saw my dad tear up.

That might have been the case if Gibson had WRITTEN the Gospels. All he did was portray it.
Even my brother, who is agnostic, teared up watching The Passion.

Otherwise, I agree with you. I think he’s over-dramatic when he himself is in a role. Braveheart was hokey and over the top for me. I imagine it might have been better if he had cast someone else in the Wallace role. …IMHO.

Consdering Apocalypto’s box-office performance…apparently not.

Alright, I can understand feeling it a little bit in the throat. But come on guys TEARS. WE cant cry at movies.

Okay, I didnt cry but if we are talking about a movie that got to me was Mighty Joe Young.

Touche… taken a bit from South Park, but although he’s insane, the man does know good storytelling.

Not sure if anyone’s seen the 2005 movie “In America”, but the last-or-so bit showing Djimon Hounsou’s face in the moon was, well, powerful.

Princess Bride…where the granpa says “as you wish” at the end.

Anyone say Young Guns? Where Dirty Steve pulls Chavez outta the mud and puts him on the horse and then gets shot and then at the end where Doc is doing the overdub and says how someone snuck into the graveyard and wrote ‘pals’ on the tombstones.

Young Guns II sucks and didn’t make me cry at all.

I just watched Lars and the Real Girl today. For some reason the end almost got me. Recommended, though.

Ok,

We Were Soldiers: Where Hal Moore is crying because his men died and he didn’t.(This just demolishes me up everytime)

Saving Private Ryan: Where they’re on the beach and there’s a doctor triaging people under fire and giving orders to medics - Im constantly amazed at the ability to combat docs and medics to make complex medical decisions under fire.

Band of Brothers: Where the chaplins are giving last rites while underfire and they’re just standing there doing their job and completely ignoring enemy fire and their own safety. And also when Ronald Speirs runs through the German lines twice.

Rudy & Armageddon also get me depending on how drunk I am when I watch them.
