Considering Self-Prescribing TRT If Doctor Won't Help. Opinions?

No… iron overload induces systemic organ damage… if you’re anaemic/deficient in iron you should be fine

Your iron was below range, saturation was as well, I’m no doctor but action should be taken to either add more iron to your diet or supplement. Your iron was lower than mine early on after starting TRT and I ended up in bad shape.

Your doctor recommended the iron, I would have as well, your body has mechanisms to regulate iron and unless you have hemochromatosis (iron overload), which you don’t hence the low iron, you’ll be fine. Just check it regularly and it might even relieve any lingering anxiety.

One thing though, I never really lacked iron in the first place. No idea why it got low, maybe vitamin C? But I never really was bad for that either.

Your lab results say differently.

I’m saying in my diet. There could be another issue causing it is what I’m saying. Anemia has more causes than just diet

Well yes, one of a few rare disease states could be causing it. 95+% chance that it’s your diet though.

95%+? I don’t know if I believe that. What’s your source for the info?

Clearly im not talking an actual probability. Its simply the fact that nutritional anaemia is very, very common, whilst other medical conditions that will only cause slight, rather than severe, anaemia are not.

Sounds like you’re ignoring the 800 lbs gorilla and looking for any other reason you could be having issues. Get off the speed and you’ll find your levels go back to normal. You may need another dopamine uptake inhibitor to get your brain chemistry right though. Get with a psychiatrist for sorting out meds, they can help with libido as well.

Lol. I’m not taking Vyvanse. Ever since I had the pain occur from the infection or injury to my testes is when my libido went away so that is the direct reason. I’ve been off that medication for more than a year, only did small trials since. It wouldn’t affect iron levels either, yes it can lower appetite but that effect goes away with regular use.

My point is that I’ve had the same diet for years but only recently within the last year or so developed symtoms of anemia, I always had a fair amount of high iron foods in my diet. So it could be something else other than purely diet. That being said I have had problems with alcohol abuse and that could’ve played a role. It’s just a surprise because my diet never really lacked iron

@dextermorgan I think the lysine is definitely helping with the iron, only 5 days in now and honestly feeling much more clear headed. How long did it take for your levels to go up when adding lysine?

I didn’t test until 2 months later but they were at the point I had to stop taking iron.

Good news everyone, I am 95% sure I now know the reason for my depression anxiety ED and libido issues. I hurt my back in a drunken blackout the night before I woke up with with testicular pain and was diagnosed an infection. My doctor’s had always told me that the back wasn’t related even though I had some pain there too. I eventually forgot about the back injury and focused mainly on the testicular pain because that was more noticeable, and as a year or so went by the pain became less noticeable and I stopped caring. During this entire time I had anxiety depression low libido and ED. All those symtoms developed pretty much directly after the day I woke up with testicular pain.

Then I found out I had low T and figured that was the reason for these symtoms. While TRT has helped mentally alot the symtoms haven’t fully gone away. Turns out its the back injury that’s causing all this. I’m having x-rays tomorrow and will be going to chiropractor directly afterwards. I’ve been doing some back stretches and I’ve noticed my libido and arousal has improved along with anxiety so I’m hopeful this will be a huge improvement once it’s figured out.

Went to chiro today and checked out the x-rays. My spine is basically straight with no proper curve which is bad, and my lower back has very little space between the bones and is twisted. My neck is also quite straight and tilted.

Chiropractor says it’s all correctable but at 500$ a month for 3 months… I’ll be going a month and assessing the improvement and seeing if it’s worth continuing. She also believes my libido and ED wil resolve once my back is normal. That part is likely at least partly true because I’ve been stretching my back and for sure there’s been improvement in libido which was delightful to notice.

I would recommend investing in proper physical therapy over chiropractic if you’re sold on paying someone. Although there’s not even that much they can do for you that disciplined mobility work and strength training won’t get you on your own. Foam rollers are cheap and highly effective. Bands are cheap. Athlean-X’s Youtube channel is free.

Dude you can’t be serious. I’ll pop your back for free.

I can pop my own back… and neck, knees, elbows, wrists, fingers, hips, shoulders and ankles #laxjoints

@spinup Anything in particular you would suggest? Keep in mind I’m looking to get my spine back to a curved position along with loosening my lower back and correcting a twist to the right so there’s alot going on there. What physical therapy do you think would work for that?

I can probably post the x-rays later today. @dextermorgan I have coverage for 400$ a year for chiropractor care so one month will only cost me 100. Do you really think it’s as simple as popping my back? The lower back vertebraes need to be much more spaced out and everything needs to be moved to the left along with becoming curved again instead of straight. Both neck and back. I’m no expert at all but it just seems that it’s more complex than popping my back
