Considering Self-Prescribing TRT If Doctor Won't Help. Opinions?

Decided against the AI. If I have to use Cialis then so be it but without any other of the so-called high E2 symtoms I’m not gonna try it. Morning woods are still around, just kinda weird and not full, but honestly I’m pretty confident that I’m good to do for decent performance during sex. Just need to find a girl to test out. Perhaps correcting iron deficiency will be the cure for that. Now taking 150mg elemental iron every day. Saw another doctor who said taking it twice daily for a total of 300 mg is also an option but I’m not sure on that yet

Its reported long term Cialis users may see an increase in testosterone to estrogen ratios (anti-E2). I’ve seen some men develop chronically low estrogen on Cialis.

Is the lowered e2 only when using Cialis and rebounds after stopping?

That’s a question I don’t have an answer. TRT or Cialis is one of those things where everyone responds differently.

Depression has been a bit worse this week. erections seem weak and I’m kind of annoyed by that. First couple weeks the erections were almost normal. Trying to just stay patient and not mess with anything. The erections could be from the iron deficiency or could be from my inguinal hernia. Both of which will take a while to fix, the latter taking possibly 2yrs. Trying to stay positive and no doubt the TRT has helped that immensely but I’m still nowhere near what I was in the past. It’s looking like labs will be a few months out with the new doc that prescribed me so I’ll have to go by feel until then. On the fence about giving aromasin a chance.

Figured out something. Started taking Vyvanse again and boom libido is good to go, and surprisingly, erections are also great despite Vyvanse being a vasioconstrictor. The erection problems must’ve been a dopamine issue? That being said Vyvanse makes me a bit less calm and adds anxiety. Hoping that I can find a happy medium with the medication and reap only the benefits while being more chill and anxiety free

It’s probably raising that dopamine higher

That’s what I’m thinking too. Im only a few days into taking it and libido is finally satisfactory, erections too. I’m hoping the anxiety side effect will wear off. When I was younger and taking it the anxiety was manageable, but for sure present. Perhaps combining it with an anti anxiety med is the solution but that kinda scares me

Oddly enough I’m finding myself less productive at work on it though. It’s supposed to do the opposite

Maybe try a very low dose and attempt to find the minimal dose of vyvanse that gives a decent benefit to libido with minimal negative effects.

Seems libido and sexual functioning is only benefit. The anxiety is pretty bad and it sends my blood pressure way up. Don’t know if I can stay on it. It’s a low dose too 20mg

Libido is still up but erections are back to meh. Hopefully losing some weight will improve vascular function, blood pressure and erections. Gonna give nofap a try too even though it’s not scientifically backed.

I’m playing hockey once a week and trying for cardio 4 times a week. Want to bring in more lifting but I just haven’t yet, gotta get on that.

Now 8 weeks in. My anxiety seems to be coming back a bit- never fully went away though. Eye contact isn’t difficult like it used to be but I find myself worrying about it during conversation which causes me to have difficulty focusing on the conversation. Although that may have something to do with my ADHD too.

Erections and libido are better than pre TRT for sure which makes me happy. If I could tolerate the Vyvanse my libido is crazy high on that but it sends my heart rate and anxiety too high. Perhaps if I can get my blood pressure to a better place then I can try it again, because it actually helped me be more charismatic and more engaged in conversation despite side effects.

I’m guessing at 8 weeks it’s still a bit too early to expect the full cognitive effects of restored T levels to be kicked in. Hopefully going to be seeing a reduction in anxiety and improved concentration as time goes on. Those are my main concerns at this point.

Vyvanse took my hypersexuality to the next level, the midday crash in energy was the deal breaker. I would be out snorkeling for 6 hours and all of a sudden lose 90% of my energy leaving me barely able to make it back to shore!

@systemlord yeah the crash is another negative to the Vyvanse but it never hit me that bad.

Just got a question regarding iron deficiency for you though. I’m taking 200mg elemental iron daily, the fact that I’m also taking TRT wouldn’t be risky at all for my health would it?

Still having anxiety issues that seemed to go away in weeks 4-6 but have now returned. No improvements In last couple weeks on that. Been lifting more lately which is helping me feel better but really wish that anxiety would go away.

This could be a sign hormone levels are too high.

Had sex last night and could only get 65-70% hard even with 20mg Cialis. Pretty frustrating. Although I was drunk so hopefully that’s the main culprit. Morning erections have become rare again. Gonna try Vyvanse again because that seemed to help me with erections due to the massive increase of arousal and libido.

Just wanted to throw an update.

No significant improvement in libido/erections so there is some psychological symtoms retaining to that, of course I won’t feel well until these issues go away. Starting to think it may be infection related, will be checking for that as originally it was epidydmitis that started all this.

Overall as far as confidence and mood are concerned I’m alot better, but again they can’t be fully well without the libido and erections. I’d say a 80% increase in confidence, 75% decrease in anxiety, and 50% decrease in depression at this point.

Getting bioavailable T levels checked today so will post that when I get it. Doctor will probably be surprised/mad when he gets the results because I haven’t told him yet and it’ll likely be above range considering I’m on 225mg per week.

@dextermorgan can you speak a bit more as to the difference you experienced when having your anemia corrected? I’m really feeling no help in the fatigue department from the TRT and worried it actually may be getting worse. And it’s got me worried that I’m dealing with a bigger issue than just the hormones. Im also experiencing difficulty concentrating, and anxiety. Legit starting to get worried it could be ALS.

Seeing a urologist soon to rule out prostatitis, could be the reason for the ED and low libido although apparently very difficult to cure.

But yeah, how major was the difference of anemia to no anemia?

@markis655
It’s a pretty drastic change but like everything TRT related it came very slowly. I also supplemented iron in addition to TRT. Be careful your anxiety isn’t leading you into negative thought patterns that manifest themselves into you believing things are much worse than they are. I’ve done this myself and still do from time to time. Also, get your diet on point. I started narrowing my diet to as little variation as possible for a while and slowly introduced new things over time. I found that carbs especially make me feel constantly fatigued very similar to how I felt with an iron deficiency. There’s lots of little things that you don’t realize can play a big part in how you feel. Trial and error.
