Compartment syndrome and this weeks steroid SAT

“9.Spot injections can’t cause much, if any, localized growth.”

“True. This is due to the inflammation and the sheer volume of oil being injected, leading to direct swelling of that particular area. Whether or not this can aid in fascial stretching I don’t know for certain, but in my opinion there’s really no point in doing such a thing. Stick to the classically accepted injection sites, those being the glutes, quads, and deltoids.”

Q. Could this fascial stretching theoretically result in compartment syndrome which has traditionally required surgical perforation of the external muscla fascia to allow the blood to escape and prevent muscle necrosis. It doesn’t appear to have bothered the monstrous Greg Valentino.

Hey O’Shea,
I can’t say for certain, but I do know that as a nurse I inject some very thick medicines IM and most IM sites for adults can handle 3ml/3cc.
Compartment syndrome that I have seen requiring surgery has affected the entire limb and was caused by either a traumatic injury or passing out in a position that cuts of circulation and affects nerve impulses(think position that a body part falls asleep in but don’t move for 6+hours).
Peace,

I have heard of rowers experiencing it in elbows & wrists (carpal tunnel misnamed?) and in the Tibialis anterior. Maybe the TA has especially tight fascia???
Thanks

Hey O’Shea,
Are asking about Carpal Tunnel or Compartment syndrome? Compartment syndrome is the complete cutting off of the nerve and blood supply. But it doesn’t just stop at a point, it’s like a pressure cooker that you keep heating and the pressure keeps going up. Carpal tunnel usually pertains to the nervous supply, pressure on the nerves inhibiting them which inturn affects the muscles, but nerve supply is more the issue. It’s like intermittent compartment syndrome the body partially recovers from until after years(usually) you get an overuse syndrome that the body has been affected by the inability to completely recover from.
part of the reason some people who bench and do push-ups with wrists flex back all the time wind up with wrist pain(then again maybe the wrist pain is do to anther reason:) ).
This is my basic understanding of the two.
Peace,
T-Ren

Thanx mate.
